So if I started a World Cup 2007 thread that would be perfectly fine would it?

What about an Ashes 2020?!

That's ridiculous. This series in a couple of months (not a couple of years) and therefore there will be interest and developing conversation.

I'd like to have Lawson in there, not sure for who though. Also, my motto is "Just say no... to Dwayne Smith. (in the Test team at least)"
Has Lawson been playing any cricket of late?

The only real challenger to Baugh in my opinion is Denesh Ramdin, but he needs a few more years yet.
Is he from Guyana or Trinidad?

Regardless of what Best did in the Carib Beer Cup, he bowled superbly where it mattered - in the Tests. He's a sure-go. Collymore IMO will find a happier place in English conditions.

Re: Collins, how can there be any doubt?? Did you not see the Test series between WI and Eng? Collins was outstanding and getting regular reverse swing. He must go.
I did not unfortunatly.

It'll get to the stage where we'll soon be dicussing the 2007 World Cup whilst ignoring the cricketing issues that are currently prevalent.
I think both is happening.

I feel there is no need to police the forums in such a way. If it has reasonable relations to cricket then I think you should be able to discuss whatever topic.

At the moment, I can't see anything on this board that suggests that the subject of threads are of a major concern.

1/ Lawson played two warmup games against the Englishmen and bowled impressively from all accounts, taking wickets as well.

2/ Ramdin is from T&T.

3/ Trust that Collins definitely bowled well enough to book his plane ticket.

I'm amazed that you would still pick him despite his failure after failure.

Also, Collins has to go IMO. He's really bowled outstandingly lately.

Yes, I'd take Collins ahead of Rampaul. No need to throw Ravi into test cricket at the moment.

Can't see anyway that Ganga will make the trip. I would prefer....well, anyone really (except, perhaps, Stuart Williams), but particularly Marlon Samuels or Ryan Hinds.

That's a tough pick. I'd pick him ahead of Powell, as I believe he's a better Test batsman. As a spinner though, I'd take Dave Mohammed first.

What's been happening lately with Samuels?? I know he was injured for some time but has he recovered? I dfinitely liked teh looks of him in just about every game i've seen him play!!

Various knee injuries has hindered him.

ODI squad (14 men):

CH Gayle, S Chanderpaul, RL Powell, *BC Lara, DR Smith, RO Hinds, DJJ Bravo, +RD Jacobs, M Dillon, CD Collymore, R Rampaul, IDR Bradshaw/FH Edwards, TL Best.

I guess Ryan Hurley isnt out of the picture neither, nor is Wavell Hinds.

i think you have one bowler too many. i think rampaul should be dropped for a batsman and ganga should be replaced by samuels if fit.

to keep it simple....he just sucks. if the selectors continue to persist with players like w.hind who has no technique whatsoever then we are only going to see more WI collapses and further 50 odd all outs

I'd take Banks as a spinning all-rounder because I think it's very unlikely that a specialist spinner will be used.

I'd pretty much go along with that and I hope Ryan Hurley is out of the picture. I think 2 strike bowlers are needed so Bradshaw would be competing with Collymore. I'd be inclined to stick with Collymore.

Wavell Hinds and Samuels should both be in the frame when fit. I guess one of the sloggers + R Hinds might have to make way, but it would be a close call. When all players are fit there'll be pretty hot competition for places.

Edwards should go ahead of Bradshaw because he swings the ball so much.
