I am pretty happy with my team.

I have solid openers in Sidhu & Shastri. You just be patient for a few hours of boring cricket and then Lara, Mark Waugh, Cullinan, Matthews will entertain you with some stunning batting.

Dujon is as solid as anybody else when it comes to wicket keeping.

Sir Hadlee, Srinath, Hughes and Warne can make life tough for any batting line up.

I'll take Maninder Singh from https://www.espncricinfo.com/series...india-2nd-test-india-tour-of-pakistan-1989-90

Next test https://www.espncricinfo.com/series...india-3rd-test-india-tour-of-pakistan-1989-90

Sorry, that isn't going to help anyone at all.

Stephen's Champions:

Justin Langer
Kepler Wessels
Brian McMillan (5)
Damien Martyn
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Jimmy Adams (6)
Imran Khan (c) (2)
Jack Russell +
Malcolm Marshall (1)
Bruce Reid (3)
Maninder Singh (4)

I'm extremely happy with my side, though I both rue and lament not getting Lara when I had the opportunity (though there could be worse players than Damien Martyn to grab instead). I feel like my batting lineup has a mix of greats (Langer, Chanderpaul), very goods (Wessels, Martyn) and serviceable (McMillan, Adams) batsmen. My bowling attack is a deadly pace attack backed up by an adequate spinner and a couple of more than handy part time options. My biggest weakness is my spinner, but that's pretty much the same for everyone who didn't get Warne.

But geez, a pace attack of Marshall, Imran and Reid is the stuff dreams are made of. Very few batsmen will do well against that.

While your side would be better than mine in conditions that let Warne shine, I think our sides are quite well matched and if absolutely love to see a test series between them. I think I've got the better pace attack and more consistent batting but your side would hit higher peaks.

I think one player will have to pick 12 given there are 100 picks listed. Anyway

pick is: Craig Matthews (25/3/94)

The Corrigibles

Greenidge
Kirsten
R. Smith
Azharuddin
Saleem Malik
*Cronje
+Healy
Reiffel
Matthews
Kumble
Fraser
Azhar should have been captain given he was the mastermind. But other than that I think your side fixes a lot of problems with this contest.

My team:
Desmond Haynes
David Boon
Viv Richards
Stephen Fleming
Graham Thorpe
Steve Waugh
Adam Parore
Phil DeFreitas
Mushtaq Ahmed
Patrick Patterson
Glenn McGrath

I think this would probably be the best batting team in the comp with Viv, S.Waugh, Haynes, Boonie, Thorpe and Fleming, and not losing anything in the 90s with Parore at 7. The bowling is carried by McGrath but the aggressive Patterson and useful DeFreitas provide variety. Mushtaq is arguably the 3rd best spinner of the draft since Murali didnt come up.

So I know this did become a bit of a grind for some as it became evident that the pool would be limited to the early 90s even though we were mostly progressing as fast as the rules allowed. But success depended equally on luck when an outstanding came up just in time for your pick, and good organisation to track who you can get for the other 80% of picks. I hope you enjoyed it and there are definitely a few class teams to vote for when ready.

This was probably the most luck filled draft of all the ones I've participated in. If the person before you unlocked a great player you were super happy. If they didn't you were super sad.

Your team is definitely one of the strongest. Certainly your batting is probably the best in the comp though your bowling is not up to the same standard (McGrath excluded).

The main two problems with the draft were the slow progress and the challenge of only having a very limited selection of players. It was more of a puzzle about trawling through scorecards and finding the best available player than it was about drafting. The design of the draft meant that people were encouraged not to open up new tests, particularly if they had good players in them.

A few small improvements could be made to address some of the issues. It would have created more of a viral effect if players could choose which player infected their next test before they picked the player they wanted.

The first test was Pak vs India. The first player would "infect" the next test of one of the players in that Pak vs India game. Then they would pick a player from the infected test. This would give players more freedom to build their team how they liked. It would also speed up the infection rate to cover more of a time span.

Maybe a rule could be that the picked player is cured and can't infect a future test, to add a bit of flavour. And the flip side of that could be that a player who infects a future test is sick and can't be picked themselves. These two rules wouldn't add anything to the gameplay but would add flavour to the selections. It would also thin out the pool of available greats as people hate-infected them.

I did have fun with this draft at times but it could have been more fun with a few tweaks.

I appreciate the effort that went into this though. Keeping track of all the picks and chains must've been exhausting.

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
I guess it would be a lot easier if we had "infected series" than "infected matches" and use the next series of the player. Anyhoo, gonna make my last pick in few mins, once I have properly woken up. :)
