FTR.

It seems I made a mistake and an obscure Indian player should have been 7th, pushing Mohsin Khan out of this list of shame.

How dare you disrespect Hamilton Maskadza's 3 wickets @ 30 against NZ.

Mark Ramprakash has to be in there, I reckon.

Maybe Zaheer Abbas for the Pakistani at #6? Can't think of too many players with that many tests over that period who didn't do well against NZ.

This would be the way forward, for me. Unfortunately I still feel as if the attendance and viewership of T20Is will remain high enough to justify them now and well into the future. I guess I'm a part of the problem - if I'm home, I'll watch a 7pm T20I every time. It's my best option. I won't attend them, but I will consume them live, highlights etc, so I'm hardly doing my bit to starve them of the attention like I'd really wish to.

I still, however, don't see how they're going to build an ongoing following and deeper belonging/attachment to the team like ODI and Test cricket has always done. That dies with T20Is - no one cares about selection, averages, no one debates anything about them too deeply (even us here), there's no real heroes and villains, it's just superficial dopaministic space filler.
I'm the same, I'd watch a T20 international on the box, I'd never go to one, whereas I'd happily go along to an ODI or couple of days of a Test Match here in Ch-Ch.

I'd also never go to a SuperSmash game starting at 7pm, I might perhaps go to a day game although unlikely...

It's why test matches have so much clout still, each time each side picks a team it's almost always the best team they can field, they actually have to make selection decisions and other than perhaps resting quick bowlers in a 5 test series each player earns his spot, no-one is rested, or given an opportunity - it makes a massive difference to me.

I'm a bit different with T20s. I'll happily watch a domestic game either on the TV or at the ground. T20 at the ground is a decent opportunity to take the kids along and not have them get too restless. I'm taking them both to the Saturday of the Australia Test, but guarantee there's going to be a lot of missed cricket for me as a result. With a T20, it can just about work. On the other hand, nothing excites me less than a T20 International or a T20 franchise game. They're both equally meaningless. When I've been over to the UK in the Summer, I've been to Chelmsford to watch an Essex T20 (if I've managed to get tickets - they sell out pretty quickly it seems) but have absolutely no interest in the Hundred bollicks.

Good move, IMO - I've heard good things about him as a coach. Hopefully he can stick around beyond just this series.

This is good. I'd love to see him involved longer term with the Test side.

No Pakistan series thread?

Such an indifferent feeling that I am looking forward to sitting down and watching cricket tonight, something I haven't done really since the World Cup...but it's a soul-sucking five-match T20 series. Even thinking it might be more worth my time to go to the Aces ND game (ain't saying Brave) at the Mount instead

For whatever reason I actually prefer 5-match T20I series to 3-match (ducks for cover). Maybe it's just because I'm fed up to bits with two-test series and three-match JAMLOG series which always contain a washout, but it can create that rare feel of something being on the line. I was more interested in the Super Smash than the T20s against Bangladesh but this might be long enough to create some intrigue and a stable side.

It's definitely worth a thread, but I'm at an airport right now and cbf.

Going to the game with some mates tonight in a hastily arranged stop on my way down to Wellington for work. Anyone else going? I'll be in the obscure late '90s tri-series kit (black, turquoise and white vertical stripes).
