The ruthlessness of Steve Waugh's Australia

In 2001, Australia were at their peak.
They scored at 4+ runs per over.
They were remorseless in the field, and denied their fans any opportunity to get frustrated.
They simply did not drop catches.

And McGrath appeared to generate extra bounce even on the flattest pitches of all time.

They had world class players like Ponting/Gilchrist/Warne/McGrath

Amazing team. The only thing close to it I’ve seen is Ben Stoke’s England.

Fake news old boy.

In 2001 they were dominated by NZ in a 3 test series which finished 0-0.

McGrath took 5 wickets @ 65 (s/r 140).
Poor umpiring in the pre DRS days saved Oz from a series loss.

Stokes's England would kill West Indies, what are a bunch of 120-130 kmph trundlers from amateur era doing? /s
Stokes's England is only the 5th best test team of the decade so far, and we are only halfway through. These teams were/are all better:

NZ 2020-21, India 2020-2023, Australia 2020-24, SA 2024-25

I referred to prime WI ie 1980's not the current crop who would indeed get beaten easily by Stokes's Eng
