He's not a natural 190 - he chose to fight heavier against McGregor to take the shots based on their first fight where he was heavier because he hadn't been in training. And even if he walked around at 190, he'd fight at 170. All fighters weight cut. Conor walks around naturally at around 160-165.

In their first fight when he wasn't training he was at 170, right? So Conor walks around at 165, nate at 170 and nate took those shots during the first fight?

Nate had two weeks to get himself ready, even amateur fighters can take 20-25lbs off their frame in two weeks. A lot of fighters are taking 12-15lbs off the night before weigh in.

Checked. You are right. It is common. In that case Conor cuts from 175 to 145?
Possibly even higher.

When they talk about "the weight cut being brutal" - that now gives you an idea.

They train hard for eight to twelve weeks to whip themselves into peak physical condition, two weeks from the fight they cut the calorie intake down to bring their weight down, four days out they spike their water intake, drinking about six litres in a day and then completely cut their fluids while continuing to train, having saunas, doing hot salt baths combined with wrapping themselves in towelling and repeating the process, 24 hours out from weigh in, they'll start doing vigorous exercise with sweat suits on and generally take 15-20lbs off their frame in the last 36 hours doing this...

As soon as they make weight post weigh in, they smash the fluids back into their body, eat protein rich meals and rest completely while continuing to take in fluid - they'll swell as much as 20lbs from weigh in to fight night.

Nate's never weighed 190 in his life wtf are you on about.

Nate barely cuts weight to make 170. He's been ragdolled at that weight by proper welterweights, guys who actually walk around at 190+. He was ready to face Conor at 160 the first time around. 170 is barely a cut for Nate, he has said so himself often.

155 is Nate's natural weight class. A it is for Connor it seems.

Man Eddie fought a terrible fight. I feel like so many people get baited by Connor's person, and underrate his sleek counterstriking and immense power. He keeps merking these guys who bull rush him. It's incredible.

Woodley WAG too. Didn't fight the best fight perhaps, but had a good enough plan and stuck to it. Wonderboy not used to being the aggressor, and after being beaten up in round 1, was clearly wary of Woodley's takedowns and power. Woodley used that to his advantage superbly.

Chael Sonnen during his podcast mentioned Nate Diaz went to bed at 188lbs the night before UFC 196 and was again around the same weight at UFC 202. To say he's a natural 155lber is laughable, considering what his frame looks like when he does make weight at 155 versus what it looks like in the ring.

It may not be as drastic as Conor at 145 versus 155, but it's certainly evidential he does a big cut to get down to 155 and 170 is more natural for him - he's a triathlete, he's never out of shape, and he does walk around at 180-190lb.

Yes Chael Sonnen, that great MMA Bastion of Truth.

Did you remember the time Lil Nog tried to feed a bus a carrot? That happened.

I mean FFS, Nate fought on TUF as a lightweight, has 25 career fights at lightweight, has been in the Top 10 rankings at Lightweight for basically all of his UFC career, has competed for the lightweight belt in two companies, but ever since he fought McG the narrative is that he walks around at 190 pounds and isn't a natural lightweight.

Ridiculous

Chael Sonnen is very close to the fighters, including Diaz - so if he came out and actively stated someones weight, I'm going to trust him over someone on an internet forum, especially when my own eyes can see that Diaz was much fuller in the two McGregor fights than he's ever been. If you want to state that he "walks around at 170" - then why on earth was the first fight made at 170 if he had 10 days to take weight off? White even said that while Diaz said he'd make 160, he didn't feel he could based on the condition he was in and McGregor said yes to 170, which meant no risk of the fight being cancelled because Diaz couldn't make weight.

In any case, look at what happens when McGregor lands his left on anyone in the 145/155lb division, compared to what happened against Diaz - he still dropped Diaz, but no where near as badly as he's done to everyone else since.

Ridiculous indeed.

I don't ftr. I said he barely cuts weight to make 170. And that he's a natural lightweight.

Connor's a small lightweight which is why he can make 145. He's definitely smaller than Nate. Nate's not a huge 155er tho.

And also, not to get confused, it's definitely possible to cut from 190 down to 155. I believe RDA does that.

But yea, simply to state Nate walks around at 190 is as fact is wrong. Thats speculation. He hasn't ever stated his walk around weight, or his in-cage weight. Everything is speculation; even Chael. They don't weight fighters before they walk in. We don't know their weight in the cage.

So lets break it down logically:

Nate weighed in at 170 on 10 days notice, 2 months after a fight at 155. And this is without a fight camp. That's fact 1.

Fighters tend to weight more outside of their camp than they do in the camp. That's fact 2 - and if you are a fan of Chael and his podcast, or the JRE podcast, you will know this too. All the fighters interviewed say it. These two guys love asking fighter their weight, and they will always state what they walk around at, and what they weight in camp, and finally how much they cut in the last 1-2 weeks. You spend the fight camp reducing body fat % and getting in shape, then you cut the water during fight week.

So lets add these two facts together:

So you take an out-of-camp Nate, who 2 months prior fought at 155, give him 10 days, and he makes 170. He goes from his walk around weight to 170. Is he cutting 20 pounds in 10 days? Bit of dieting down + a water cut? Possibly, Does he weight 190 while in fight camp for a fight at 155? Extremely unlikely. Was he 190 in that cage? Very, very unlikely.

I'd estimate he's somewhere between 175-185 out of camp weight. In camp he's probably around that 170 mark, before the final week and water cutting to get to 155. After weigh-ins he probably goes back up to somewhere between 165-175 by the time he is in the cage. When fighting at 170 he's probably only around 5-10 pounds heavier in the cage.

Connor barely touches 170 while in camp. He stepped onto the scale at 168 without any sort of cutting or dieting. He can easily make 145. And since he's always 'in camp' -incredibly active fighter- I have no idea what he would weight out of camp.

Nate's bigger, but that's it. Nate's a natural lightweight. Connor is a small lightweight/big featherweight. We don't need any more narratives/speculation/nonsense outside of that. No need for revisionist history of calling Nate a 190 pound or 200 pound welterweight that tiny little featherweight Connor beat in some sort of David vs Goliath encounter.
