What was interesting was how often McIlroy played astonishing shots (eg 15, 17 & play off) when he was chasing and how poor he was when defending (13 and 18). I had a feeling on 13 when he took 3 wood off the tee it might not end well and sure enough....

But that was simply a sensational few hours of sport, right up there with the best I've ever seen (like the last hour of the 2019 World Cup). Really glad he's got the slam now, puts a lot of talk to bed.

Nice to see Bryson collapse and then have a whinge afterwards that Rory didn't talk to him, seriously, what did he expect? Don't think I'd want to chat too much to Trump Boy.

Scheffler not at is best yet still sneaking into 4th, he'll be winning soon. And Rose (Reed too) showing that if you know your way round Augusta, you can always be competitive. A shame that it had to be him to lose the play off, but showed wonderful sportsmanship afterwards. Fronting up to interviews too will hopefully show others how it's done.
Haha **** Bryson. He's a MAGA Yankee Doodle Dandee personified.

A prize ****.

Joined Future Golf in the hope it would get me out playing a bit more. There was 40% off the joining fee (making it $239), but you get a $100 Drummond Golf voucher, which I spent today towards a new pair of shoes + a $50 Big Swing Golf voucher (indoor golf) + a voucher for another indoor golf thing and a 30 minute swing assessment, so it's not bad value if you use all the benefits.

Anyway, they play every couple of weeks at different courses around SEQ, so I thought I would ease into it with a 2 person Ambrose at Brisbane River Golf Club tomorrow. Luckily I put my name down for the latest group I could, which is 8am because the ****ing course is nearly an hour away! I have to get up at 5:10am on a Sunday to make sure I am there by 7:30. Way to ensure yesterday's sleep in to start the long weekend is quickly forgotten.

I should have looked at Google maps before I booked.

Why is the latest tee 8am?

Came very close to a hole in one today - still never had one.

It's an online golf membership, so they're not aligned to a physical club. I assume we are essentially a social club when it comes to getting tee times, so they've thrown us in early to let others have the course afterwards.

From Future Golf's perspective it might also be so we finish up early and get out of there.

Was at river lakes myself a month or so back. it lives up to the name. Let me know how you find FG. I’ve heard good things.

Bit of a mixed day in terms of how well I hit it, but we may have won the 2-person Ambrose. Had -1 off the stick for a net 58.25 (Par 66). If we get up, it's a $50 Drummond voucher each and a 6 pack of beer. Should at least get 2nd, which a $25 voucher with the beer.

Drove a Par 4 and knocked it to about 15 feet - it was only about 240m and slightly downhill and birdied the 18th and the 1st on my own to notch up two in a row as we started on 10. The putt on 18 was about 8 feet with a two foot break left to right, and the putt on 1 - a ridiculous 204m par 3 into the wind, was about 35ft from off the left fringe and it broke about 4ft left to right. Also managed to hit a 9 iron into a par 3 to 3 ft and duly leave the putt short.

In amongst all this I hit some pretty **** drives and some very average approaches, hooking quite a few left. Got away with a few that I thought were going right only to find out they were in pretty good position. An advantage of not knowing where the fairways were at times I think.

Had a good day out with them today. Group were a nice bunch of blokes and the current sign up deal is really good. With the $100 Drummond voucher and the 12 round vouchers, you can't really go wrong if you are going to play a bit during the membership year.

I think if you live in Sydney or Melbourne it might be even better in terms of the courses you get to access with the vouchers.

I'll take a look. May catch you at a round through the year. I suck.
