Another thing.......Andy Johnson as standby?!?!?!?!! I don't rate him at all. Dean Ashton is far more deserving.

Had a rethink. Should have left out a midfielder and put in another forward. Bent or Defoe, makes no difference. Hargreaves is a utility player so he stays. Lennon can create mor eimpact than Jenas so he would have been left out for me.
Hargreaves is no good at anything. Phil Neville would have been a better call.

Ashton is injured and ergo was never being picked. Darren Bent is no good at anything. Andrew Johnson is no good at anything. For me, the two who have the right to feel the most hard-done-by are Defoe & King. But Sven was probably just worried they'd give the others Montezuma's Revenge.

Bent still has a case though being the top English scorer last season.

1) *Humph* Bet you've never seen him play!!!! He's far more consistent than James'll ever be.

2) Yes, but remember that the opposition won't have a clue which'll (hopefully) play into our hands

3) From the sound of it, Terry'll be fine in a week or so, so I wouldn't have him down as a doubt
Actually I've seen him play live, at Fratton Park when Norwich were in the Premiership. :p He's a fantastic young goalkeeper, and has a lot of potential, but you can't deny that if Sven had an alternative who'd been playing regular Premiership football this season and was 100% fit he'd pick him instead. Playing in the Championship is just not enough preparation.

You're probably right about the other two - I still don't agree with Walcott's selection, but he is an unknown quantity to the opposition.

So, so true

Ashton is injured and ergo was never being picked.
Fair enough, wasn't aware of that fact.

Darren Bent is no good at anything. Andrew Johnson is no good at anything.
Also very true. Johnson just dives. That's it. There's no creativity or movement in his game IMO.

Spot on. I firmly believe he's one of the worst players ever to play for England. A complete disgrace.

Why is King not there, he could have slotted him as mid-filed possibility at least ahead of Hargreaves:dry: , plus i know it wouldn't have happened but Parker should have been their ahead of Jenas..
King and Parker both being injured might have had some bearing 8-)

Gary McSheffrey got as many goals as him this season, and he was playing Left wing!

Very glad to see Lennon and Downing in the squad but Walcott does seem an extraoridanry selection, still you never know he may do something amazing. Have to pray and hope Owen and maybe even Rooney are fit but i dont understand why Darren Bent wasnt included, he has scroed an awful lot of goals this season in a pretty average side.

He's 26, been playing for Norwich since 1998 and has over 200 games under his belt.
If he hasn't shown his potential yet, don't think it'll be coming soon 8-)

It's a shame about Kirkland - so much potential but he's faded away somewhat.

Funny you mention him - i laughingly told a(nother) Coventry fan that i'd rather have been him picked for England than Walcott - at least he's scored loads of goals in the championship this season.

Goalkeepers don't peak until about 32. And I'd say he's shown his potential already, he was fantastic in the Premiership for Norwich.

some of the top scorers from the premiership have been absolute rubbish for england though, such as ian wright (great man), kevin philips and to a lesser extent (dont want to play for england B) Chris Sutton

have to say im actually fairly happy with most of sven's selections. Really there is no point in taking people like Phil Neville or Darren Bent when you have no intention of playing them, better to take people who'll be there in the future along for the ride with the possibility they might make an impact as a sub.

Good to see Downing and Lennon there, and Walcott? you never know.
