Personally i think outside Best, Edwards and Collins they are pretty crap.

Collymore is quality. Just like Hoggard [maybe abit quicker] on his line and length, only thing is Hoggy has great backup, Collymore doesn't. that is why i think he is less successful than he can be. i find him to be the most consistent of all the Windies bowlers. best has this habit of trying to bowl magic balls every other ball. Sometimes it comes off, other times is doesn't and it is a disaster [and he made Rob Key look decent]. I like Collins and Edwards. If Best was taught to be more patient, he could be alot better. he does give his all though.

How dare you say that about Dave Mohammed. He's a very good bowler with a good FC record, who on test debut in South Africa did no worse than the seamers Drakes, Edwards and Sanford but ended up not playing again for the West Indies for 7 months. When he finally got another chance it was in a team which had lost the previous 2 tests and whse bowlers(with the exception of Bravo), again, weren't pulling their fingers out. And to add insult to Dave the opening batsmen, Joseph and Gayle, were used before him. How're you as a specialist bowler supposed to bowl if you know your captain doesn't trust you so much he bowls his opening batsmen before you? Then he gets dropped AGAIN. At least give him a chance to prove himself before slagging him off. How long did it take Flintoff and Harmison to come good? :****ed:

yeah i liked dave Mohammed. If he was in English he have been in the squad for tomorow [im place of batty of course]. he is mich better than the spinning backup we have in England

They may not be the greatest spinners in the world, but they are better then some of the losers quicks that have been picked infront of them. Surley Banks is a better bowler then Collymore, King, Powell, Washington etc.

ive been disappointed with powell, he looks too 'jermaine lawsonish' to succeed at the test match level. i thought he had potential when i first saw him in india, but it looks like he cant do anything other than get the ball to move off the seam.

MacGill when England couldn't play wristspin to save their lives...

MacGill since England's play against spin has improved...

Doesn't take a genius to work-out that MacGill against England cannot be taken as a whole.

'Four or five' bad balls per over? IF a bowler was to do that at Test level, of course they wouldn't play. But MacGill doesn't. He's not even unusually inaccurate for a leggie.

True "four or five" is a woeful exaggeration, but the fact is MacGill, while not inaccurate for a normal wristie, is not accurate enough to be a Test-class bowler, as most wristspinners aren't, and that's why so few wristspinners have had success in Tests down the years.

Banks is rubbish, yes, but Mohammed clearly has potential.

Banks is every bit as poor as Powell, maybe, but Washington undoubtedly has potential and King and Collymore are better than Banks as things are anyway.

Collymore isn't as bad as Banks but he's nothing at present compared to Hoggard.
The main reason he's not as successful is because he mostly bowls too short. And, like Hoggard, he has spells where he sprays it all over everywhere.

SA early on - not since the 1910s.
Most of the Test-class wristspinners have been Australian, yes, but still... 4 in 100 years. Not exactly a massive number.
