Markram and Rickelton are at peak ages now. They are our most important guys for the next few years and then the senior players in each format;

Tests: Bavuma
ODI: vd Dussen and Miller (move on from Bavuma)
T20s: Maybe Miller (move on from Reeza and Rassie)

We can move forward with that in my opinion.

Simelane has a highest score in T20s of 22. I know there is talent there but he is clearly not ready for internationals. His record across formats is looking very bits and pieces. I’d like to see a more defined role for him in LO stuff domestically. Maybe at 6?

Seeing Parnell and Olivier playing in this Champions tournament makes me a little sad. I mean Smuts, Phangiso and Viljoen are here as well but they are definitely older players and/or were only going to be jobbing international players.

Olivier played a Test last year! He is getting hit around by retired players. Parnell is the biggest disappointment because I followed his career from his under 19 days. We thought we could have got a proper number 7 who bowls left arm at 140+ but it just didn’t happen. Also doesn’t look like he is taking his fitness very seriously now either which was a hallmark for him.

Edit: I guess we got big Marco though??

We went through a period after the 2007 CWC where we completely forgot how to support all rounders , not counting Kallis cause by then he was established..I'd say a good 15 years or so ..

It can't be a coincidence, there was something wrong in the way we were coaching all rounders a decade ago at the highest level , the current management seem to have taken steps to rectify it and we are seeing big improvements from all rounders who looked like they were joining Parnell on the scrap heap.

I still don't get how the rules for that competition works as Oliver is going to play for the Warriors this season. Initially thought it was only for retired players.
