South Africa team selection

Shuks never afraid to pump the chest out and tbf he has always spoken like this about young talent he has worked with domestically.

“We won comfortably in the end, and I still don’t think we played as well as we can play. I mean, Aiden’s (Markram) probably played his best Test knock. I don’t think South Africa’s seen a better Test innings. KG (Ngidi), Lungi (Ngidi), all of these,” Conrad said.

“I can name the guys that have performed in this Test match, but there’s so much else sitting in this change-room that scares me.

“It excites me at the same time as to where we can go with this group.

“I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years.”

Linde back in the mix? Never quite know where he stands. Good to see both Brevis and Pretorius there. I like Simelane there, think he has an ability to solve lots of issues around team selection if he really comes good.
I might be mistaken but I think Linde played in our last T20 series vs Pakistan & was pretty good. It's why I wonder if he has a chance of being in the ODI squad moving forward.

Really want Simelane to show what he has with the bat for the Dolphins. You dead right, for the white-ball formats he could be lethal. I also like his attitude which is where I think Phehlukwayo left a lot to be desired. Simelane is an excellent fielder. Would say along with Brevis, Dewan Marais & Oliver Whitehead are the standouts from recent SA U19s gone professional.

He may only be there because Rickelton is being rested but interesting to see Rubin Hermann selected off the back of his SA20.

De Kock & Klaasen retiring early. Nortje would have been selected if fit supposedly & Shamsi seems out in the cold now?

When you think of the players not selected you imagine Markram, Rickelton, Stubbs, Jansen, Rabada walk back in? **** forgot Miller.

Maharaj hadn't really been favoured in T20. Fortuin was playing but seemingly Linde & Muthusamy now favoured.

Williams, Breetzke, Ferreira, Mulder also not included. Decent depth & one of the positives of SA20 for this format.

He did, and was man of the match in one of the games.

Pretorius the keeper? I don't think anyone else in the squad can keep.

Is Baartman injured?

12 games 17 wickets @19 , he had an excellent T20 WC , I would consider him to be very unlucky to miss out if he is fit.

Yeah he is. Got injured playing for the Dolphins again. I think that's a major negative for him & the timing. I must have seen him walk off the field injured for Dolphins 4/5 times and pull out of at least 2 Proteas squads. Seemingly Lizaad Williams is seen as ahead of him.

As the guys mentioned, Rubin keeps.

But it's made me think & I'm not saying he is over-weight but it might be the best option that Lhuan-dre keeps as Rubin is more agile in the field.

I'd assume Hermann was the designated keeper... Interesting that both him and their second keeper Prince have had white-ball call ups; Prince didn't get any game time last time though...
