With the IPL resuming there will be 8 Saffers who won't finish the competition in Markram, Rickelton, Stubbs, Mulder, Jansen, C Bosch, Rabada & Ngidi.

Bedingham (although injured), Verreynne & Paterson have been playing County cricket. Only one's not playing any cricket or attached have been Bavuma, De Zorzi, Muthusamy & Maharaj

IPL till the end;

RR: Pretorius, Burger & Maphaka
DC: Du Plessis & Ferreira
LSG: Miller & Breetzke
KKR: De Kock & Nortje
CSK: Brevis
SH: Klaasen
GT : Coetzee
I won't be so sure about that:
Rumors that CSA are being put under pressure by SA20 owners for the SA players to stay till ipl end.

SA players' return from IPL remains open-ended, pending talks between boards

No backbone at all just because of money
Because realistically money in this world is important and only those that can afford to can ignore that... what should CSA do?

I do hate it... but we do need to be careful of judging CSA to hard here. Whether we like it or not SA20 has been a lifeline money wise for the game in SA. Also the players themselves have a bit of a say here, they could speak to their franchises to try be released earlier. But it may very well effect their contracts and future contracts. And unfortunately when that's your long term livelihood then burning bridges is not really an option.

The blame should ultimately fall entirely on the BCCI, they clearly don't care about cricket because they could easily allow the players to go, without it effecting the IPL teams that much. It would even show to spectators of IPL the importance of the tests and the WTC final. But by basically black mailing CSA and its players to first and foremost give allegiance to them or else...

So well summed up mate.

Whilst the BCCI & IPL (T20 cricket and finances) are the biggest problem here we also need to find ways to get better in all areas as a cricket nation to become less reliant on the Indian ownership. Sadly we've shot ourselves in the foot having people in charge of things who didn't give two shits about the betterment of the game in the country for so long. Hell, they probably didn't know much about the game itself. So much recovery work.

It's also sad that our players can't take these owners aside and tell them how much it means to prepare for and play test cricket for SA.

Was very predictable. Sadly this isn't only a CSA issue . I await to see what England do with their ODI series. Stand their ground or give their new investors what they want?

Latest is we managed to convince BCCI to allow the players an early release.
I am rather surprised that common sense has prevailed.

This would be great... for SA but also for cricket. Its exactly what I hoped would happen, that BCCI would relent because it doesn't really matter, makes them look magnanimous, and at least gives a nod towards cricket that is not IPL.

I imagine Lhuan-dre will need to be replaced for the SA A tour but looking at the balance of the squad and options he would be tough to replace for 4-Day & 50-overs.

B Parsons
Z Hamza
G Roelofsen
G Kaplan
M De Villiers

Probably who I would debate between.

How does everyone feel about Lhuan missing the A tours for IPL? I understand money is a big factor, particularly for a young player, but warming the bench for a franchise that won't make playoffs and only have 2 games left feels like a waste. I would much rather see him playing 4 day and 50 over A cricket to understand how his game translates to internationals right now.

Obviously not ideal but there is no way we can win getting a player from the IPL for a A series.

Social media building up with the content. You reckon he has no chance of getting on the park?

To enjoy when you can.

I love that there is a bowler selected in the recent Ireland squad from Limpopo Province (Tom Mayes). It's pretty incredible they can produce cricketers there really. Add Marchant De Lange and to an extent Dian Forrester but he went to Pretoria at 13 and got to play with and against high level teenagers.

So Dale is in the Limpopo Academy and wins batsman of the year 18/19. Wasn't even going to go with Limpopo Academy to Titans Academy trials.... He just went for a bender 😭 and as they say the rest is history. Went to Pretoria to become a skateboarder.

Not ideal but nothing that could be done. There is an agreement between CSA and SACA that they will never stand in the way in IPL deals. Also from his perspective it probably opens up a spot for next season and long term.
