CSA need to find some more tests for SA to play in over the next 2 years... its just not practical for the team development to play so few tests. Its a problem that CSA has created and its a problem they need to resolve.

Are Zimbabwe available? It's not ideal in terms of the relative strengths of the two sides, but there's obviously less travel involved than with any other opposition, which could make it easier to fit something in somewhere.

Not sure you can lay the blame solely at the door of CSA.

Apart from the Big Three everyone is playing only between 12 and 14 Tests in the next round of the WTC, this is as much as a problem created by the ICC and the Big Three and their greed and structural problems with the international game.

It's a question of money though, Tests are expensive and if the broadcast and gate receipts etc won't cover the costs you have a problem.

Its about cost, and that comes down to CSA and other boards. 6 other teams are full fledged test playing nations. Why are we only playing 2 tests this series; because CSA and WI board’s decided that. Yes the big three are taking the lion share from the larger pot, but also contribute far more into that pot. It’s up to CSA to find the monies and get those extra tests. It’s the only way we develop the game.

We still have no sponsorship for the domestic cricket. That is all CSA.

I'm not saying that CSA plays no role in this disaster, CSA has been a slow motion car crash since Majola's tenure basically, but util the ICC ad Big Three comes to the party they'll be fighting a uphill battle.

I think they will fight a battle, but most of the uphill battle comes from internal issues not the big 3. When CSA have all their ducks in a row and adding more monies into the pot because people care about SA cricket more than we can have a discussion around the big 3. I think its an excuse. Where is our big money spinner coming from. SA20, that is all money from India. Where is the local sponsorship? non-exist why because CSA screwed up bad. And with the SA economy and corruption as its a far bigger issue. We can probably find more sponsorship, but CSA would have to open their books and become fully accountable and that is problem for them

I think there are green shoots and I am far more optimistic than I was a year ago.

The SA20 was a roaring success, CSA seems to be coming right, and I like Conrad and Walter as coaches.

Sure the SA20 money was from India but CSA is a big shareholder in the comp and it can only have boosted SA cricket.

While I worry about more lucrative T20 franchise comps existing to encourage more players to 'do a Boult' I definitely think it's a big step forward for the health of the game the CSA found a way for some of the big money from India to give more power, resources and influence to someone other than the BCCI.

Were seeing guys like chris green go from franchise specialist's to traditional FC cricket and do really well, think it can work both ways depending on what pays best and fit's the players skillset.

Captain was in full praise of Australia’s “insane professionalism” after the final, so, I assume not everyone is supportive of van Niekerk’s plight. Unless insane professionalism doesn’t extend to professional players being expected to pass a fitness test that 17 other players passed. ****ty situation but what else could CSA have done here? van Niekerk was a contracted player and if the idea of passing a fitness test was completely novel, go ahead and sue CSA. They like litigation.

I don't think any of us here have objected to the idea of having fitness standards which players are required to meet. What we have questioned is whether the only test she failed is an appropriate one when it comes to assessing fitness for cricket.

She seems to have done pretty well in her career, having managed to run the 2km in under 10 min. Of course now that she can't run it in under 9:30 min then she is either not dedicated enough or can't play cricket good enough anymore....
