South Africa team selection

If we honest guys, they clearly wanted someone else with speed through the air so Morris or Dala it is. Beuran Hendricks a distant 3rd - positive he has is left-arm.
And Morris does offer more with the bat than any of the other quicks, so that may have factored into it. Bringing any of those three into the squad is a step down from Nortje, but at least with Morris there's a possibility that what you lose in bowling might be offset by the gain in batting.

Agree. It's not perfect but you can understand why they did it. It may even allow us to play both Lucky and him but that is another discussion all together.

I've been thinking about mind-sets. He seems like someone who is chuffed he has got where he has got and doesn't want to put extra pressure on himself. So he has the it's ok if I failed mentality. You just feel if he could have performed with more of the "I need to perform'' attitude without putting extra pressure on himself he could have achieved more. But in saying that he loves the Poms  and could play them in the opening game if KG isn't ready.

Morris is just proven to be a garbage ODI bowler. Average of 40 after nearly 40 matches is unacceptable. I'd rather have taken Dala and I don't rate him much.

What I don't get is everyone who's been clamouring for Morris's inclusion seems to have overlooked this. The argument for having him there is generally along the lines of him having an "X-factor". But an X-factor and the occasionally moment of brilliance doesn't mean much if most of the rest of the time you're poor, which Morris's ODI stats show he is.

It seems like you there are two groups for Morris. Think he is this wonderful x-factor cricketer capable in big moments or someone stealing a living.

I think we all happily moved on from him but his competition who is ready for this world cup isn't great. It's almost like our fight for batting and all-rounder positions too.

It will be remarkable and a great achievement if we get to the SFs of this world cup.

Morris is the South African Jadeja. Hasn't done nearly enough with the bat to overlook his mediocrity with the ball.

And you haven't done nearly enough proof-reading for me to overlook the mediocrity of your proof-reading ;)

Most of morri's fans only watch him in t20 cricket and haven't watched one game of his for the titans in the 50 over comp this season. They love him because the inconsistency doesn't show up as much in t20 cricket.

I do go back to feeling this was as much precautionary as anything else.
I read something about Rabada's injury along the lines of the South African team physio happening to be in India at the time and insisting that the injury required him to withdraw from the IPL even though his IPL wanted him to stay on. So that suggests it wasn't all that serious, and more precautionary as you suggest.

https://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/P...ning-squad-for-201920-proteas-season-20190517

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named a squad of 28 players, outside of the CSA nationally contracted players, for a conditioning programme to prepare for selection for South Africa’s various international commitments during the 2019/20 season as well as during the current off-season

The Proteas have an away tour to India in September and October that will consist of three T20 International matches as well as three Test matches followed by home series from December to February against England (all three formats) and Australia (white ball matches) and then the visit to India for a series of ODI matches in March.

The South Africa 'A' side will also be visiting India to play their counterparts in both white and red ball cricket in August and September.

"The reality of the situation is that we no longer have an off-season and we are about to embark on an exceptionally busy period of international cricket, starting with the ICC men’s World Cup later this month," commented Corrie van Zyl, CSA Head: Cricket Pathways.

"The purpose of this squad, under the direction of SA 'A' Head Coach, Russell Domingo and SA 'A' strength and conditioning specialist, Tumi Masekela, with the assistance of the Franchise coaches, is to ensure that these players are properly prepared and optimally conditioned for international cricket.

"It is also important to let them know that they are on the radar of the National Selection Panel (NSP) for possible selection to the Proteas and SA A."

Apparently kg is fit for the opening game. Dale still under observation, fit for the wc but may only play from third game on.

Wiaan Mulder debut for Kent.

5 wickets in the match (Foakes, S.Curran, Jacks, Morkel in 1st innings & Jacks again 2nd innings) & a run out of Stoneman.

Now making sure Kent should get a draw going to 50 and batting with the tail.

His former Gauteng schoolboys and SA u19 teammate, McKerr and Morne Morkel have been peppering him with bumpers.

Having been keeping up to date with the recent cricket in England, I don't know if we have the hitting power to keep up with some of these teams. More and more I'm convinced that our bowlers need to have blinders, because these pitches are absolute roads.

England tour 2019/20

Boxing Day Test -vs England - at Centurion; New Year's Test at Newlands and PE beats Durban to host the 3rd Test. 4th Test at Wanderers and there are 3 ODIs and 3 T20s against the English as well.

The Australians are also going to stiek uit next February to ODIs and T20s. And that's the 2019/20 international season
