Head is a fkn weird player as Burgey said

Biggest issue with him opening is that number 3 will think that every pitch is a minefield for the first few overs

I know it isn’t possible but BCCI should force Hardik to play first 3 Tests of this series. Otherwise what is the point of giving him contract.

Order of venues is as expected, it could be 3-0 to AUS even before MCG.

Coming straight from low bouncing pitches, adapting to Perth first up is hard as it gets, so 1-0 is almost certain there.

Pink ball Adelaide Test, gives India a chance too but India don't play any D/N games so playing an one-off game with the pink ball won't be easy to adjust to. And 36 all out previously doesn't bode well.

Brisbane is never easy, if there is seam movement like there normally used to be, the young Indian batters could get exposed.

So 3-0 is at least 50/50. At best, India might nick a single test before going to MCG and even that would be quite hard to come back from.

And the timing of the series gives India little time between finishing off with NZ at home and playing in Aus. So that also won't work in India's favor. It would be quite an achievement if India can somehow draw the series 2-2, given that Aus 4-1, 3-1 etc look far more likely.

If Perth can't turn out for this game then this "first Test of the summer in Perth" experiment should end. Both Adelaide and Brisbane have, up to now, demonstrated that they deserve it far more.

will be interesting to see how jaiswal adapts

have already written gill off given how he played vs clouderson recently

jurel and pant both have to play because jurel actually looks like a very good bat

should start the series with both jaddu and ash and then rotate bowlers

rohit
jaiswal
gill
kohli
pant
jurel
jadeja
ashwin
shami
bumrah
siraj

How about Australia take a punt and chuck in JF McGurk to open and be done with it. At very least it fixes their batting order problems.

Likely first test XI for India

Rohit
Jaiswal
Gill
Kohli
KL
Pant
Jadeja
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Shami
Akashdeep/Siraj

If KL is fit, he'll play. Not a whiff of doubt here.

Jurel only gets in if Pant is deemed too risky for keeping duties. Even then, knowing Dravid he'd have KL keep.

I'd like to see Kuldeep play ahead of Ashwin but it won't surprise me if Dravid/Rohit went with the conventional risk-free choice of Ashwin.

idk if they’ll play 2 spinners, they may be bamboozled by the Perth is a pace paradise trope and go with 4 pacers

3 quicks are enough. Jadeja would play as an AR there, equivalent to Mitch Marsh. Kuldeep as a wrist spinner is a good bet on bouncier AUS tracks. India should be cautious in deviating too far from their traditional strengths. The idea of having Lord or Pandya in XI should be killed outright.

Still, hard to see India prevailing third time in a row. Long as they can avoid a whitewash or take the tests to final day/session, it'd be nice.
