No. He's not. Especially if he breaks down this regularly. Is there any doubt he's the best Asian fast bowler?
Easily "better" than Wasim or Imran.

He's one of a very select few who can be argued to be at least as skilled as Wasim and even more effective.No. He's not. Especially if he breaks down this regularly.
Some peers might disagree with you. He's one of a very select few who can be argued to be at least as skilled as Wasim and even more effective.
He was leagues better away from home than Imran, that's not even disputable.
Yes the durability is a real concern, but of greater import, he's also the greatest bowler of his era. There's not another pacer from the s/c that can lay claim to that title.
Its funny, I keep hearing all the Bumrah overhype (not picking on him - this is not exclusive to him at all, the sameBumrah is outrageously good. Even with a career hampered by so much injury and having played so few matches he is already top 3 Asian fast bowler of all time (if not top 2 already). Just a few more series of keeping this up and he might well be the GOAT.
Peak Imran and overall Wasim are why he's top 3 and not top fast bowler from SC though. Some peers might disagree with you.
Its funny, I keep hearing all the Bumrah overhype (not picking on him - this is not exclusive to him at all, the same
happened with players such as Smith and Kohli) but now nobody seems to want to mention Imran or his peak when discussing Bumrah compared to other SC bowlers, despite it being constantly brought up in discussion otherwise.
It certainly is disputable. You are just wilfully blind to Imran's record. He was leagues better away from home than Imran, that's not even disputable.
He's not better than Wasim or Imran yet, but anyone with 200+ wickets at a sub 20 average warrants a conversation. It certainly is disputable. You are just wilfully blind to Imran's record.
Bumrah can't even finish a 5 test series away from home.
Not disputing that of course. He's not better than Wasim or Imran yet, but anyone with 200+ wickets at a sub 20 average warrants a conversation.
I literally mentioned the durability, and yes it's a legitimate concern and limitation. It certainly is disputable. You are just wilfully blind to Imran's record.
Bumrah can't even finish a 5 test series away from home.
I don't mind folks saying Bumrah is better away, you said 'leagues better and it's not disputable' and that is honestly ridiculous. If that was that case he should be ahead of Hadlee and McGrath too since neither of them are leagues ahead of Imran away.I literally mentioned the durability, and yes it's a legitimate concern and limitation.
He's not had a better career than, and not as yet greater than, but he's better at this point than Imran.
In a compeditive era, he's the best of
Imran's not in the discussion for best or greatest bowlers away from home, hence they're not in the same tier. Simple.I don't mind folks saying Bumrah is better away, you said 'leagues better and it's not disputable' and that is honestly ridiculous. If that was that case he should be ahead of Hadlee and McGrath too since neither of them are leagues ahead of Imran away.
Especially since Imran and other bowlers could bowl long spells and 5/6 test match series away from home, and had many great series away too.
Circular logic but whatever.Imran's not in the discussion for best or greatest bowlers away from home, hence they're not in the same tier. Simple.
I also rate McGrath and Hadlee at least a tier above Imran as well, not not understanding you point.
Having great series away, and being great away are different things.
And yes, no one's disputing that Bumrah not being able to consistently make it through 5 test series is an issue. Imran missed not insignificant chunks of his prime as well, but yes, ahead of Bumrah.
Bumrah's a better bowler though, how the next few years plays out if he'll be ranked ahead of him as well, but for now Imran is ahead there.
Happy Birthday to Dale Steyn, the statistical outlierBetween 2006-2015, he was an outlier.
No fast bowler had an average below 25.
No fast bowler had a strike rate below 25.
Dale Steyn took 398 wickets or 90% of his career wickets during that period at an average of 21.9 and unbelievable strike rate of 41.0.
In my opinion, he is probably the closest a cricketer came to being an outlier in the last 80 years of test cricket.
Pretty sure Ryan Harris did.Happy Birthday to Dale Steyn, the statistical outlierView attachment 48223
Statistics are like mini skirts. It is enough to grab attention, not enough to show the truth.Pretty sure Ryan Harris did.
Sure but it's more his longevity that his impressive than his era.Statistics are like mini skirts. It is enough to grab attention, not enough to show the truth.
I used cut off as top 127 wickets.
If we use cut off as 100 wickets; we will get another 3 bowlers(Philander, Asif & Harris).
Still Dale Steyn’s performances are very impressive considering he took more wickets than all three of them combined in those 10 years
Basically a decade taking 5WPM is why I have him over Imran who has a similar record.Being that good for a long time is what made special.

Its ok, maybe he’ll find the truth one day.Bleh
