You have a draw a line some where out of 8 non-minnows teams. Quality keeps going down and some time you can see clear gap in qualiy just looking at W/L wihtout having watched single game. I do watch games and my observation about most periods not having more than 4-5 good teams is based on watching games.

Just take one your your cited periods,

There is a big drop in W/L when you go outside of 5. Now if you want to make a case that Pakistan, SL and WI have been good teams in 2020s then we just have to agree to disagree on what makes a good team.

Despite them being one of the worst batting sides in the world in the 2020’s I’m sure wickets against SA have huge weight because of the team being 2nd overall in W/L in the 2020’s.

Yeah that's a great point. W/L ratio is just too simplistic of a metric to determine strength of a batting/bowling side.

6/40 against South Africa at Centurion is definitely a far better feat for a pacer than 6/35 against Sri Lanka at Galle.

Yk what, I switched. Steyn better overall ofc but Bum Bum can keep the Peak (which tbf is also his whole career till now, just riddled with fitness issues).

Bumrah is outrageously good. Even with a career hampered by so much injury and having played so few matches he is already top 3 Asian fast bowler of all time (if not top 2 already). Just a few more series of keeping this up and he might well be the GOAT.
