according to my sources, Howstat, cricinfo and Wikipedia, Billy Bates made his debut in 1881 (you listed '82). I have corrected in my updated selection list.
One day of Test cricket was played in 1881 (first Test of the 1881-2 series began on 31 Dec), but there were 10 debutants on that day.

(Mind you, the 12 debutants in 1879 and the 15 in 1880 all made their debuts on the same day as well. 62 different men played in the first 5 Tests).
