*Official* West Indies Tour of Ireland and England- May/June 2025

What instigated the move away from multi-format tours? It’s harder to get up for what seems like random white ball series when there are no Tests either before or after against that opposition
Well for most teams there's not much overlap any more between the squads across the three formats, especially if you're trying out new players in the latter, so makes less sense to squeeze them all into one tour.

I think this is a lot to do with it. In the old days you'd send out 16 players who would play Test and ODI. Now there's so many specialists that it's pointless combining Test and Limited Overs.

Hearing Sherfane has been added to the squad for tomorrow and that Evin is fit now. So a much stronger batting lineup for us.

I'm 50 miles West of The Oval and just been saturated walking the dog, it's heading that way and you can expect a 2 hour delay when it hits.

Apparently to beat the traffic, the England players arrived on the Lime Bikes. For those of you not from London or other big cities that I assume offer similar hire bikes, are posh electric bikes useful for getting somewhere in a hurry around road closures.

Rutherford looked ridiculously good before the rain. I've never really viewed him as having red ball potential, but his technique is looking really good at the moment. We really missed him in ODI 2, I honestly doubt we'd have lost if he had been there at 5 to finish the innings off.

The only recorded partnership between Sherfane and Motie in ODIs prior to this one:

119 for the 9th wicket (A Windies record)

  • Sherfane Rutherford: Scored 80 runs off 82 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes.
  • Gudakesh Motie: Remained unbeaten on 50 runs from 61 balls, marking his maiden ODI half-century.
