I find the daylight in 2nd kinda funny
Not to the extent where someone could end up almost 10k runs ahead? Many countries have daylight between 1-2 tbh
It seem as though the Bajans were calling the shot in this one...and terribly at that.Only other thing I'd say is this was one of Shai's worst captaincy performances. He was far too laid back during that 6th wicket partnership. Shades of Holders captaincy. Not good memories.
In fairness, Motie didn’t look very threatening, there’s a big drop off in your bowling from Joseph and then SealesIt seem as though the Bajans were calling the shot in this one...and terribly at that.
Two RHB at the crease and Chase is bowling...it would have been a perfect time to introduce Motie into the attack. The captaincy was very laid back. No initiative whatsoever.
Yeah most have it around 5-6k. Punter is around 9k ahead of Warner in second. Sachin was 10k ahead of the rest before Kohli cutting it down recently. Not to the extent where someone could end up almost 10k runs ahead?
Surprised Smith isn't closer to Ponting.Yeah most have it around 5-6k. Punter is around 9k ahead of Warner in second. Sachin was 10k ahead of the rest before Kohli cutting it down recently.
My guess is that Smith hasn't played anywhere near as much ODIs as Ponting because the latter was largely pre the t20 era.Surprised Smith isn't closer to Ponting.
Wonder if Brook or Bethell may end up closest to Root given their multi format abilities, but it's the ability to be great for 14+ years which stands out for all of the leaders.
Yeah, that's the huge factor. Never realised Ponting actually has more ODI runs than Test. He played 375 ODI's compared to Smith's 170.My guess is that Smith hasn't played anywhere near as much ODIs as Ponting because the latter was largely pre the t20 era.
I remember that back in the day, India played Australia in 7 match series. I thought wtf back then about that. Can't help thinking that in a roundabout way, events like that have contributed to the demise. To the credit of this forum, they have called out meaningless ODIs quite well, from what I can see.Yeah, that's the huge factor. Never realised Ponting actually has more ODI runs than Test. The slow death of ODI's probably means these overall numbers will never be challenged.
But then also you'd get some interesting storylines developing through the longer series....Flintoff shirt waving was at the end of a 3-3. England in 2007 being abysmal at the start of the CB Series before turning it around.I remember that back in the day, India played Australia in 7 match series. I thought wtf back then about that. But the CB trophy for one was nothing but a tournament prep for the 2007 World Cup. I take your point about days out. I was at the tied game in 2005 that was the tri series final, so I definitely had a good time there. But as a fan, I found multi match bilateral series as dull as ditch water. That said, I don't much keep in touch with the IPL or any other franchise tournament. But then also you'd get some interesting storylines developing through the longer series....Flintoff shirt waving was at the end of a 3-3. And I still maintain that an ODI is the best day out at the cricket. Guaranteed to see your team bat and bowl, you get a result, you get a full day. Those in Cardiff yesterday will probably have the best VFM for any cricket played all Summer. 97 overs, 600+ runs, two tons, 18 wickets and a close finish.
We lost ODI's and we got Franchise T20!!! Those complaining about JAMODIS should've been more careful what they wished for.But the CB trophy for one was nothing but a tournament prep for the 2007 World Cup. I take your point about days out. From an England fan perspective a lot of the issue was that we were pretty terrible at ODIs during much of the 00s and early 10s when the long ODI series and 3-team tournaments were fashionable, so interest would soon dissipate! But the CB trophy for one was nothing but a tournament prep for the 2007 World Cup. My vote for the worst series was the 0-5 at home to Sri Lanka in 2006.From an England fan perspective a lot of the issue was that we were pretty terrible at ODIs during much of the 00s and early 10s when the long ODI series and 3-team tournaments were fashionable, so interest would soon dissipate!
I think that it is simple…What instigated the move away from multi-format tours? It’s harder to get up for what seems like random white ball series when there are no Tests either before or after against that opposition
