West Indies may dominate a session or two with their batting but over all I think it will be another assault for WestIndies in the hands of SouthAfrica.

If anything the West Indies will dominate a couple of sessions with the ball, especially at P.E where South Africa traditionally are there for the taking.

Really would be surprised if the West Indies batsman started to light up as a collective anytime soon. So much rests on Gayle and Chanderpaul and you wouldn’t begrudge the latter if he failed considering the amazing knocks he played in England.

Would be very surprised if Chanderpaul didn't pull out another big series (45+ average). He's been so consistently exceptional in recent years, aside from his horror stint as captain. It's also pretty disappointing that Devon Smith is in such shocking form right now, and I feel really sorry for Ganga. He's played very little meaningful cricket since the England Tests. When he's a Test specialist and he hasn't played first-class cricket in about 6 months, it must be pretty tough to stay sharp.

Shaun Pollock is apparently going to play today so one suspects the wicket is going to be pretty darn lively and whoever wins the toss will want to bowl first. The forecast for the test is ok, although, some wet weather is expected tomorrow and probably a late start.

Its about time that the selectors realise that Nel isn't made from the same stuff Pollock is made out of.

Also, does anyone have an update on M. Morkel? I would of thought he would be around the fringes of the team, is he still injured?

Steyn struggling with his line ATM.

Can't believe the Windies have gone in the 5 quicks a bit overkill for me. Seems to make an already weak batting line up even weaker with Bravo at 6 surely should have a played the extra batsman instead of Sammy?

**** the TV coverage is so bad all you can hear is beeps from phiones & computers really unproffessional.

Compared to Sky & Channel 9 the production & presentation is piss poor almoast like going back 10 years.

Gayle batting brilliantly.

Nice contest (Nel vs. Ganga)

Whoever says WI are a boring team to watch is patently wrong.

Bravo and Sammy aren't quicks.

And the choices of extra batsmen are Parchment and Devon Smith IIRC. The former has played a couple of ODIs against the might of Zimbabwe and a Twenty20, with one exceptional first-class season to his name. The latter is woefully out of form and could not even make double figures against said Zimbabweans.

I'd say West Indies are best served bolstering the bowling if they can't properly bolster the batting. And consider that Sammy was one of the few bright signs with the bat for WIndies in the tour match.

Terrible shot from Ganga but his played his part in giving the West Indies a great start. Gayle looks imperious against the seamers and Smith has got the field all over the place to him.
