The new coach has said that Aiden Markram will get a long run as opener in the SA test team starting with this windies series. He has an average of 24 after 23 tests. Huge competition for KL Rahul.

*34 ..Two very similar players , two posterboy cricketers who haven't hit the heights that was expected of them both in captaincy and batting

He is their obvious #4. And captain in waiting. And he can bat at that number across formats. Yet, they wanna ensure he is an opener in the toughest place in the world to open the innings as far as test cricket goes.

International Captain
Brevis has a 50, shame it won’t count towards his non existent fc stats but that’s a good start to his long term aspirations for a test career

Akeem Jordan with 3 wickets; Chase with 3; Gabriel with 2; Blackwood and Reifer with 1 each

Nothing at all for our regular bowlers

The attack seems really pedestrian with the kookaburra still. Gabriel made a massive difference and he may well break down.
At this point, it would be wise to just play Gabriel in ODIs. His fitness levels are not suited for the longest format of the game.

Takes an age for him to complete his overs and has had problems with extras, would be a worry in the shorter format with time.

There does appear to be a lack of 'pace like fire' options for the West Indies at the moment, Mindley, Jordan, Phillip are all a bit 'samey'.

Using the Dukes ball at home has created a proliferation of skillful 80-82 mph seam and swing bowlers basically. There are some very quick youngsters in Thorne and Pitman but they have some way to go before they are polished enough for FC cricket let alone tests.
