Nice to see Maharoof add some respectablity to the Sri Lanka score. I think his 64 is his highest List A score. Hopefully the selectors don't do overboard with this innings and start playing him as an all rounder.
He's not too bad. Nothing really wrong with playing him as a late-overs hitter, as long as he works on it. Not one you can expect to get big hundreds, but he's certainly a better bet than that other all-rounder in the team.

Yeah it will be fine playing him as a late order hitter, but the problem comes when they try and play bowling all rounders (bowler who can bat) as all rounders batting at 7. If your talking about Chandana as the other all rounder, Maharoof still has a way to go to be better bat then him, ATM his below him and Vaas.

Chandana has worked hard, but Vaas was just plain lazy and never took his batting seriously. However, rather than expect one of them to score the bulk of the runs at seven, they should play a combination of non-specialist batsmen as hitters at seven, eight and nine, and that will work better.

These days, totals of 300 can be chased down with ease, but the Indians struggle to even chase a total of a little over 250. Let's just hope Mumbai show them how to do it.

Already a slow and scratchy start for Mumbai, who are at 15/1 after five overs. Praful Waghela couldn't wait any longer after being pinned down by Zoysa and Maharoof, and tried hookign a short ball only to get out in the inner ring.

Oh brother, Mumbai's sticky, don't-give-an-inch attitude may get them into a lot of trouble, if they don't push up that scoring rate. It's up to NS Shetty, their best OD batsman, to hold things together.

Nah i think they should play seven batsmen and play Chandana as the super sub and bring him on if the 5th bowling combination of Arnold/Dilshan/Jaysuriya doesn't work.

Whatever it takes!!!
Mumbai has gotten reasonably close to the target. Good partnership between Mane and Shetty. But Sri Lanka striking a couple of crucial blows just now.

Indians are not great chasers or finishers. I thought you would have known that by now. ;)

BTW, this is not a full strength Mumbai side either. It is a MCA presidents' eleven, mainly trying out a few youngsters with the season ahead in mind.

9 needed off the last over with 3 wickets in hand for Mumbai. I told you our boys weren't the best chasers and finishers. ;)

and Dilhara bowls a no ball, why am I not surprised? Jeez......so SL lost to a President's XI.
I hope they don't think the national team will be easier.

MCA Presidents' XI have done it with a ball to spare, because they took a single off what turned out to be a no ball when they needed 2 to win off the last ball. Too many no balls in this match. Some of the no ball calls were ridiculous during the time I was watching, but atleast they were consistent in the decisions. Too many no balls in this game, though.

Wow pretty wacky finish there. Good effort by the MCA President's XI. Why was Jayasuriya retired hurt? Shoulder again?

Good win for MCA President's XI. As the commentator said, two restrictive medium-pacers and two boring batsmen helped them on the way to the win. Reminds you a lot of the Lankan side, doesn't it?

Will Jayasuriya be fit to bowl?
