Injury Update
Cricketweb Colts chances of challenging for silverware this season have been dealt a major blow with the news star all rounder Mike Wilson will miss 25 calender days due to a head injury. It has been reported that Wilson was struck in the head by a beamer from wicketkeeper Yngve Fjermestad while batting in the nets without a helmet. Wilson wont return until Colts final First Class game of the season against Green on March 31st.
Cricketweb Red Batsman Matt Luff has returned from injury and can be selected again.

Cricketweb Red travelled to Black with their season on the line this week, a loss pretty much ends their campaign while a shock victory would keep them alive in the race for a top two spot, with John Heads returning for the visitors and Nath Patrick for the home side both teams had every reason for feeling confident.
David Kennett won the toss for Red and despite there being a small ammount of rain in the area he decided to bat first, with the start delayed by 10 minutes the opening batsmen from Red seemed to have their preparations disturbed as neither Hakon Mork or Matt Luff looked comfortable once play got underway, a flurry of wickets early on gave Black the upper hand in the match in the first two sessions as Red failed to get settled among the numerous rain delays, the visitors slumped to 57/6 with Nath Patrick and Nick Borcich tearing through the top order. It looked likely for a long while that Black's spin twins of David Richards and Neil Pickup wouldn't be required to bowl as the wickets kept falling. Eventually though some lower order grinding from John Heads, Sean Bennett and Kingsley Clapham gave a small ammount of respectiblity to the score when Red were eventually bowled out for 183. Borcich and Patrick grabbed three wickets apeice.
Cricketweb Black would have seen this as an ideal chance to secure a huge victory and send shivers down the spines of their opponents, however things didn't go to plan early on when SV Raghav playing his first game of the season struck twice for Red, including the wicket of skipper Dan Smith for a duck. The middle order for the home side was supreme though as Josh Ritchie continued his rise through the Cricketweb ranks to bring up another first class century, while it was a similar story for young batsman Daniel Speirs, wicketkeeper Ash Chaulk celebrated his recall to the national one day squad with an excellent 75 while most of the lower order chipped in with runs, Raghav had a day to remember as he justified his selection with a faultless five wicket haul while Kingsley Clapham took three. Black scored 448.
Red had to start their second innings giving up a massive lead, their intentions were clear from the start, to be as defensive as possible and not throw wickets away, with the inform Black seamers moving the ball all over the place it was a tough ask for Red's batting line up to negate the onslaught, the usually attacking Matt Luff went nowhere in a hurry Marc Robbins Jnr made a patient half century in the middle order while the experienced heads of Rob Dauth and David Kearsley saw off a good number of deliveries but not enough. Despite batting more than 90 overs Red were unable to get the 260 odd to make Black bat again and were bowled out for just 188 with Nick Borcich taking 5 wickets.

Cricketweb Colts and Cricketweb Blue played out an amazing draw at the Fardin Qayyumi CC today. Despite needing 12 runs to win the game off the final two overs on the last day Colts batsman were unable to get rookie medium pacer Brenton Robb away in the penultimate over as Blue snuck away with a draw. Colts were missing star all rounder Mike Wilson but you couldn't tell as their batsmen were again at the top of their game with Dan Towns and Callum Laing making first innings centuries, Colts bowlers did their job too but getting Blue to follow on but in the end it was just a good controlled fourth innings plan from Blue skipper Travis Dememza that allowed the game to end in a share of the points.

HNNNGG! Gutted we didn't get the runs there, but was a great performance by our batsmen. Bowlers were good too but definite room for improvement there. Laing is a gun.
