***Official*** Pakistan in New Zealand 2017/18

Blain

U19 Captain
Kitchen 7 (13) since the end of the power play. When we needed 10s. With Bruce and deG on the bench. Putting extreme pressure on Guppy. So much for Hess "he can strike the ball from the the start of his innings ...".

I think Guppy has to run him out for us to have a chance.
He'll still be picked for the Tri series, no doubt.

Yeah, it was always going to be a long shot to win with this batting line-up and order, particularly if Williamson and Kitchen stayed in a while with a lowish strike rate. Unfortunately that happened. Taylor coming in at this point seems ridiculous to me.

What a woeful team we've selected.
The worst thing is that we had an advantage over Pakistan, in that we had a good domestic T20 competition over the last 4 weeks, and a few in-form T20 players could have been picked. But for some reason Hess / Larsen don't appear to have been watching. And they don't appear to have cared about winning this series, seemed more keen on testing some selection hunches (only 4 batsman, Phillips in middle order, Kitchen etc) before the Aus / Eng series.

Kane, Kitchen and Taylor should not be anywhere near the T20 side.

This format is made for hacks who can score quickfire 20s and 30s, not players who need 20 balls to get in and aren't explosive enough to catch up.

Pakistan have bowled brilliantly.

Our batsmen haven't been able to hit them off their lengths.
2 of our top 3 weren't trying to hit them off their lengths. They were happy to keep out the good balls. Good batting if chasing 120 - 140, but bizarre when chasing 180.

Taylor looked sensational. The eye surgery seems to have got him back to 2011 WC level hitting. A shame he was so far down the order.

Not wanting to slip into a typical Black Caps fan again as we have had a great summer (against lackluster opponents mind you)... but the selectors really have to reassess their T20 selections.

Dropping Phillips after a couple of bad innings with the bat seems hasty, Kitchen getting in ahead of Chapman because of his bowling then only bowls 1 over in the 3 T20Is. Just too much mixing and matching and becoming hypocritical. Not sure why Blundell was the go to keeper after dropping Phillips either. Surely Seifert would have been a better option?

Also, I don’t want to talk bad about our lord and saviour Kane Williamson, but he’s looked like a fish out of water in the last 6-8 months in T20Is. Chewing up too many dot balls with a sub par strike rate, I can’t imagine he’s going to get much game time in the IPL unless he has a blinder in the tri series.

Positive note though, tonight’s innings from Taylor was epic and brought back great memories of the Taylor of old. Hope to see more of that.

Bring on the tri series and the Poms!

Well done Pakistan!

Really happy to see that Taylor is in such amazing form, love watching him bat. Hope his career has some time left yet.
