Well now we get to find out.. and it's CDG.

Excellent innings from Guptill - seems to be working well that he's able to play the anchor role a bit more now he's opening with someone more aggressive (Munro) rather than less (Latham).

I'd just like to take a moment to fully acknowledge how awesome it is to be watching cricket at a time where we have our 3 best ever odi bats playing at once.

Yeah it's amazing - someone posted a link to top NZ ODI scorers the other day and, although I know we live in a particularly batsman-friendly era, it was still noticeable how much Taylor, Williamson and Guptill's stats **** all over our best ODI batsmen from the past. Mid-40s averages vs mid-30s.

Not very often historically. This summer on slow pitches that we roll the opposition on? Sure
No this is a fair call. New Zealand's lack of quality icing hurt them badly in the CT, and this summer has shown very clearly that it's still a weakness. We really miss someone like Elliot, who can play a duel cake/icing role, or an in-form Anderson who can take good bowling attacks apart.

Watching NZ bat right now is painful. It would have been understandable if Amir and Hassan were bowling but struggling against these trundlers is just too much

If only we had a promising in form young batsman with hitting options all around the ground. Where could we possibly find one?

Nipples is the one who's supposed to play this Elliott or Chris Harris role though it didn't work today.

This debacle here is showing that having just one effective boundary-hitter at the end of the order is better than zero (which we had before), but still not enough. All eggs in the CDG basket isn't going to work reliably. Time for one of Chapman/Philips/Seifert to bat at 5 or 6.
