Lame.
Southee and Jamieson looked a great chance against Iyer right now. Gotta keep Jadeja off strike of course.

That sucks so we waited this long to take the new ball and we'll bowl spin with that

Intriguing day... First and the last session was India's. We did well one session. The game is getting away or has already got away.

Disappointed Ajaz's lines and length weren't as good as he's known to bowl.

Happy to see Iyer get runs. Couldn't watch most of the play today, sounds like was a bit hacky, but runs against the Number 1 side at home on debut is nothing to scoff at. He may not set the world alight overseas but if he can do a job in the subcontinent then we'll be fine. We need middle order bats.

Gill and Jaddu are quality. Jaddu even more so. What a man.

Good knock from Iyer. Was a risk taker but you can sand the rough edges off that, and he's a good indicator that India are still producing batsmen who can score runs in their own conditions and the meme trio aren't the three horsemen of the middle order apocalypse.

My only real concern would be his shot to Southee with the new ball. We've seen the nothing fiddle from Indian middle order batsmen before. Again, polish him up.

The spinners failed today. This is India, it is their job to lead the charge. Southee getting injured was unfortunate, but should be recoverable in theory given we have three spinners. That's a bigger problem if we're at home with the meme quintet and have to keep the remainder alive on a flat one.

Ravindra was a little unlucky I thought. Bowled well, and I would have stubbornly kept him on to tempt Iyer into biting off more than he can chew. Oh well.

Kyle Jamieson is on track to become the best bowler in the world. He's everything England media tell us James Anderson is but with the ability to bowl a kookaburra and a foot taller.

Southee was very brave today. He's comfortably a level or two above our spinners and he's half fit.
