*Official* New Zealand in Australia 2019/20

Yep - Australia have recovered astonishingly. They were a mess last year, but what a difference now.

I reckon they’d make a mess of India in Australia right now.

Their bowling is relentless. If they had Wagner it would be terrifying.

And their batting has shown that they’re more than happy to grind it out as well, they don’t have to try and smash it at 4+ an over.

NZ just can’t keep up with them. This series is done. It’s just personal highlights and grit now. Who will enhance their reputation from here?

Spoiler: Not Mitchell Santner

So perhaps now Kane will now realise that a Santner 100 on a pudding does not mean that he is good enough to be a batting all-rounder in test cricket? (and after the 1st innings he will realise that we need 4 specialist bowlers in the test team)?

Getting your two best batsman (at the time) back, finding another world class batsman, and getting all your bowlers fully fit again is quite a fortunate turn tbf. It's a somewhat unusual set of circumstances tstl.

We've basically played Australia abiut 5 to 12 months too late. They should be world number 1 in a few years but honestly they'll lose in the sc most likely
I'd actually be really pumped for a tour of SL/India in the short term. Think this side would genuinely make a very good fist at it, although India at home is borderline impossible to beat right now.

When you put it that way... And they don’t even have Hazelwood.

What odds we make 600 following on?

Note that last summer their two world class batsman were suspended. But it is hard to believe they couldn't win the series in England.

We Victorians deserve better as a contest than the rubbish NZ has served up in the most iconic test on the calendar. Ian Chappell is right, the test rankings are nonsense. The SA discard is a very good bowler, but their attack is way below Australia's. Am surprised how meekly their bats have surrendered though. Latham was a bit lucky, but gutsy. Santner - what is he in the team for?

They've been excellent. Nz are better than this though. It's bizarre.
Australia's batting lineup aren't IMO. Unless Smith made a ton (which is obviously possible) they'd be looking down barrow at a very similar scorecard against this attack in conditions that sortakinda suited them like here. It's been pretty special.

Will be interesting to see if Paine enforces the follow-in. Conditions are a bit draining, but will be much hotter the next two days.
