Astle finishes with 28/6. Admittedly, the Northern batting lineup is pretty fragile this year, but I'll be keen to get a look at his bowling when Canterbury get round to playing an FC match at the Basin this season.

Broom is looking really dangerous for Otago. The pitch at the Basin is meant to be a beaut, so I could easily see him racking up another enormous...oh he's out!

Jinxed before I even finished the post.

FMD. Did we even turn up today? Half an hour apparently, that's disgraceful. This really does make Todd Astle a lot more intriguing however, I'd really like to get a good look at him some time this summer.

Finally got Wells, man he just can't ton up can he?

Left his team in a defendable position though, good on him.

So how has the standard of competition fared compared to this time last year?

Having been out of the country for the last couple of years I've been amazed at the weather conditions so early in the season.

Re the CD game - good to see Bracewell in the wickets in both innings. As well as that McClenaghan, has taken a few wickets while keeping the runs under 3 per over.

Nethula must be pretty happy about moving during the off season - 7 wickets in the match. Is Colin Maiden a turning pitch?

Otago v Wellington game is shaping up to be a good one. Look for a lead of 250 then declare and see what Wagner and McSkimming can do.

The pitch at Colin Maiden was helpful for once according to the commentators. Think it was more suited to seamers iirc so good stuff from Nethula.

Todd Astle! Get him in the team:ph34r:

Love how his batting form has been decent since turning into a bowler, when he was a 'batsman' he was ****!

What the hell are Otago doing? Lead of over 300 and still haven't declared. McSkimming is taking the long handle to them.
