Domestic speed gun is slow remember Zinzan. Wheeler was shown at 125ks-130ks, and plays for NZ the next week bowling mid 130's.
Is it really though? I do suspect the Aussie one is cranked up, but surely the one's used in domestic games is the same sky equipment they use for NZ internationals. That was my understanding anyway.

Also, I thought Ferguson was impressive the other day, but truth be told he did slow down a lot as the overs went by. Hit 150 a couple of times in his first 3 overs, and then was really around the 138-143 mark as the overs went by.

Good effort by Seiffert. Maiden 100, from 7 in the order.

Almost got ND a win but missed out by 2 runs. When I had last looked the live scorecard had a WASP winning chance of 7% when he was on 50odd.

Good to see him finally delivering in 11 a side cricket ......

The race for the next keeping spot heating up now... G Phillips, Seifert and Blundell. I'd back G Phillips for shorter format and Blundell for longer format. Although Seifert and Blundell in that order are probably better keepers.

Don't forget the dark horse, Dane Cleaver. Has had an epic season. I don't think Phillips will keep full time, can see him being a T20/ODI bashing opener in a couple seasons.

I know Kuggs has been bowling well. But it's weird Craig Cumming & the other domestic commentators keep going on about his good pace, when the speed gun was showing around 132-133 kms.
He was clocking as fast as 145 in last year's super smash. Looking at the vids of him today, I'd say he's definitely capable of 140+.

Looking at the points table. CD are last with 2 rounds to go, assume out of it mathematically.

Therefore I'm expecting Leopard to come in, for some experience, at expense of foreign player KNB.

IIRC, Leopard had an ok A tournament, so no excuse.

Well his action does look quicker than mid 130s, but it's sometime hard to tell with busy actions. There could be something to the slow domestic speed gun theory, because this wasn't one game, this was at least 2 of separate matches from the Super smash just done. Mind, I was only watching bits here and there so could've been coincidentally spotting his slower ones.

Yep, can't forget Cleaver.

If Phillips doesn't give up the gloves it'll be him for the next 10 years, amazing talent. Seifert isn't that far behind but unlike Phillips he's usually batting 6-7 not being given a chance up the order.

Phillips
Seifert
Cleaver

Blundell

So naturally we go with Blundell....

Seiffert has been given plenty of chances up the order in both LA and T20. Its just that he stunk at it.

Fortunately he's now getting his game in order.

Batting wise Seiffert has simply been a slow developer at senior level (although he was awful also at u19 World Cup level).

No one to blame here. Blundell has earned his chance. Let's see if Seiffert can rise to the challenge of this wicket keeper race. Because it isn't his or anyone's by right.

I sarcastically noted 3 rounds ago that Seiffert had a new career high score of 30 odd. He's now bettered it in 3 consecutive rounds.

But that's how bad he has been in his first few years.

In terms of potential and potential excitement, I'd probably agree. In terms of productivity right now, I probably wouldn't.

i don't mind the seifert hype tbh. he likes a big swing but he scored an uncharacteristically slow ton earlier in the FC season that caught my eye. you don't often see blokes touted as the next mccullum grind it out in their early 20s. he's one to keep an eye on.

I take a natural shining to Glenn with his Howick and SA blood lines, but his keeping needs a lot of work. His batting has come on in leaps and bounds though, found a lot more ways to hurt people. Much, much better on the front foot than he's been in the past without losing the short ball proficiency. I'd say he'll debut without the gloves in the next 2-3 seasons as an T20 opener.

How does Cleaver keep, well?

So in the end there's been play so far in all three matches, with only Wellington v CD currently disrupted.

Notable performances so far:
Worker 80*
Bennett 5 overs 1/15
Rippon 83
Nicholls 111* while four of his top-6 team-mates dismissed in single digits
Kuggeleijn 8.3 overs 2/22
Sodhi 8 overs 2/36

While it may be hard to push for a spot as an ODI seamer with Boult, Southee, Henry and Ferguson all there, I'm at least more interested in Bennett than I am in McClenaghan returning from injury. Though I can't remember off the top of my head how Bennett has gone bowling at the death lately.

Also, Nicholls just keeps scoring runs one way or the other.
Also, Josh Finnie 73 not out off 46 balls against Auckland. Includes a nice scoop for six off Grobbelaar.

Worker with another huge score, 180! He's gotta get a chance against the Saffers. An average of 43 in List A can't be ignored. He's really grinded out a career hasn't he, been around for yonks not setting the world on fire, but has really upped his stats in the last couple of seasons.

4fer too. Young got runs which is nice, just the usual out before 100.

worker has been good at limited overs for yonks, he was just a **** FC opener. scores runs in the middle order in FC now

It's a public holiday Monday. There is zero cricket.

The Ford Trophy, apparently so important it's placed in prime summer in an uninterrupted block ..... not worthy of trying to attract some paying punters on a long weekend.

Saturday > Monday > Wednesday just too tough.

Awesome.

These guys are hopeless at their jobs.

Imm my man, these are presumably the same people who keep thinking Napier is a good idea for ODIs, even though they have more than enough proof it isn't.
