Really? Always picked him as a deceptively not-quick McClenaghan style bowler. So my estimation of him has just gone way up cos FAAAAAASSSSSST > everythingTipping the speed gun at over 150kmh, Auckland's Lockie Ferguson will likely fill the vacancy created by the injured Adam Milne in the Chappell-Hadlee series.
When everything is on song and clicks he can touch 150, but not "over" 150... he's more a 140-145kmh bowler.Really? Always picked him as a deceptively not-quick McClenaghan style bowler. So my estimation of him has just gone way up cos FAAAAAASSSSSST > everything.
We need to develop a right arm in-swing bowler, ASAP...
In NZ conditions, bringing it back into the right hander as a right hand bowler has always been lethal (Bond, Martin, O'Brien) and would be a true difference maker to the left armers we've got doing the same thing from their over the wicket angle.
The problem batting at 5-6-7-8 for NZ is that usually you're coming in and having to accelerate immediately because as "successful" as Taylor and Williamson have been, both tend to go at a strike rate that is too low and Williamson in particular gifts his wicket away before really launching and making up for it. It's hard to really rate someone batting for us in those positions, because they're coming out to try and scramble most of the time, rather than finish things off.My memory of CDG in his last odi stint was: bat too big, bat speed too slow, too orthodox for hitting out under scoreboard and yorker pressure.
Better suited to red ball cricket with orthodox lengths and outfield space.
Am I right? Or was that a small sample size against a really good Saffa attack?
Yeah, surely his radar isn't tight enough to seriously play ODIs? More bilateral ODIs as Test trials I suppose.Lockie will go at 7s and 8s.
I think it's another Milne/McKay/Gillespie selection, the need for speed, rather than looking at how that speed impacts players even at domestic.Yeah, surely his radar isn't tight enough to seriously play ODIs? More bilateral ODIs as Test trials I suppose.
He averages 25 at List A level, has got slightly better in the last couple of years but accumulating is not his strength. Gets under pressure, can't turn strike over that well, either hits out or gets out. It's definitely a selection based on FC cricket and his sole Test. Great hitter but against good bowling, finds it hard to get down the other end. I wouldn't expect him to be in our best ODI side with Watling, Neesham, Munro, Santner in the middle order. My memory of CDG in his last odi stint was: bat too big, bat speed too slow, too orthodox for hitting out under scoreboard and yorker pressure.

Match fixing.... oh wait, just O'Donnell's selection policies and **** coaching ability, nothing to see hereSo ND saved their match but Auckland have spectacularly collapsed from 340/6, needing 20 to beat Canterbury, to 350 all out
Nuttall didn't have a wicket in the match until the second session today and ended up with five. Jamieson got 11.
