The first 14 players offered Mondiale Auckland Aces contracts for the 2015/16 season in alphabetical order are as follows:

Michael Bates

Brad Cachopa

Colin de Grandhomme

Lockie Ferguson

Donovan Grobbelaar

Michael Guptill-Bunce

Shawn Hicks

Colin Munro

Tarun Nethula

Rob Nicol (Captain)

Robert O’Donnell

Glenn Phillips

Matt Quinn

Jeet Raval
.
The Mondiale Auckland Aces will have a strong squad mix for the 2015/16 season with a combination of proven talent and exciting new faces.

Promising youngsters Shawn Hicks and Glenn Phillips have been offered their first contracts and will be looking to further develop their impressive talents. Hicks will offer the side both batting and bowling options, while Phillips brings strong batting credentials and is a wicketkeeper.

A settled core side of returning Mondiale Auckland Aces featuring Colin Munro, Rob Nicol, Colin de Grandhomme, Michael Bates and Tarun Nethula will help the pair hone their skills. The team as a whole will be looking to break through with a competition victory after finishing second in all three formats last season.

Those disappointments will no doubt serve as extra motivation for what is an exciting squad.

Auckland Cricket High Performance Manager Paul MacKinnon believes the side will have good balance.

"We are very pleased to have such a strong mixture of experience and youth in the team for this season. It’s particularly pleasing that two players who have been strongly involved in age group representative teams in Auckland will be full members of the squad this year. We’re also looking forward to seeing senior guys like Rob Nicol, Michael Bates and Tarun Nethula continue to provide strong leadership for the side."

Glenn Phillips debuted for the Mondiale Auckland Aces last season playing in the later stages of the Ford Trophy and was involved in the Plunket Shield team. Shawn Hicks has been lucky enough to spend the New Zealand winter in England after being given a scholarship to play with the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers Team.

Warren Barnes, Dean Bartlett, Carl Cachopa and Anaru Kitchen won’t be a part of the team this year. Barnes and Kitchen are heading to Otago. Bartlett has moved to a post cricket career as manager of Cornwall Cricket Club and Cachopa is currently playing in England.

Weerasundara starting to look pretty downtrodden, with Hicks, Seifert, Carter, O'Donnell and possibly McClure all being domestically contracted.

Northland fast bowler Cody Andrews new face with the Northern Knights | Stuff.co.nz

Kelly's bowling doesn't really look up to much to me tbh, which is a shame if Santner is going to be increasingly absent with international duty.

Kelly shouldn't really feel Popli or Hickey's batting talent is so far beyond his reach that he needs to pursue his career elsewhere though.
He shouldn't, but like I said last week, coaches will always have players they're more fond of. Kelly should be playing domestic cricket already, he's that good. You don't hit 30 ball 90's at 'A' tournaments without some ability at 21. I don't really rate his bowling either, like Santner he's a batting all rounder (although Satner has a lot more ability with the ball than Kelly) but it still provides the captain with another option, especially in limited overs cricket.

Last year when I was doubting Leo Carter's abilities and then was surprised to see he wa left handed. The mistaken identity - it was new Auckland fully contracted Shawn Hicks I didn't rate much from u19 footage. Looked like he didn't have 'much time'.

Yea, I know he's How-Pak.

Verma really should've made the move two seasons ago tbh. Again just one of those guys who was stuck doing not much when they could've been playing somewhere else.

Gutted Bartlett has retired. Lost in the quagmire of Auckland depth. Then look at Wellingtons contracted seamers .....

Sometimes wonder if Auckland needs two associations .... Come on down the Direbirds, be polite and make way.

Wellington's already sort of doing the Firebucks idea, by making these overtures to Kapiti and Wairarapa to become part of our region. Manawatu's the big one, if we could capture them, Phlegm is ****ed.

I think he was trying to finsh off his engineering degree at the same time so only other possible province for him to move to was Canterbury, as he was blocked at ND/A

Otago; Warren Barnes, Nicholas Beard, Michael Bracewell, Neil Broom, Derek de Boorder, Jacob Duffy, Ryan Duffy, Josh Finnie, Anaru Kitchen, Michael Rae, Hamish Rutherford, Craig Smith, Sam Wells, Brad Wilson.
Disappointed not to see Roald Badenhorst there, really liked how he went about his work, think he has a great deal of potential in terms of T20 cricket. But should be a strong squad and be top three across the formats. Although I do worry about our bowling.

If wellington had them half the team would be from manawatu. Ridiculous player production for a small place.

The remains of CD would still be okish too. The big cities really are underachieving for their size.

Any Stags squad anywhere? What do the people at the Central Districts head office actually do?

It must just be games of Nerf basketball, most days.
