*Official* Matthew Hayden Career Discussion

Aussie,if you think Hayden isn't an ATG,fair enough(I have him a rung below Punter, personally). But not being an ATG doesn't automatically equal being an FTB.Hayden has played some good innings in difficult conditions-scored a ton against Walsh and Amby if I'm not wrong,in the late 90s,India 01,UAE 02(?-I remember a match where he scored more than what Pak did in 2 innings put together,Oval 05...

This thread is for discussion of Matthew Hayden's career, not for carrying on battles about unrelated topics from other threads, or baiting other posters.

Aussie - comments such as "What foolishness are you asking me at..." are not a constructive way of posting. I'd suggest you make your point and then debate politely with other members. Also, accept that other people have a different opinion to you sometimes.

GIJoe, honestbharani, social - Trying to bait a response from other members is not acceptable. Clapo has already said to keep the thread civil.

Hayden was the luckiest cricketer in history to have averaged 50 plus a lot in test cricket

Whenever he scored runs, every decent bowler he ever faced was out of form and/or bowling on a flat deck

****ing miracle really ad:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: infinitum.
Nobody ever ever ever said that. Try reading every page of the discussion before you come in here & start talking to yourself.

Help me Jesus!!!

I never ever ever ever said anything of the sort. I refuse to repeat myself, since you people have eyes & are supposed to be able to read & comprehend well. I am 100% convinced now people aren't reading or understanding what is being written, since post after the post the same drivel is being repeted.

Moderators please assits the CWers..

Well you consider him a FTB in the "Mumbai 2001 to Cairns 2004" era don't you? How does that square with him scoring more than Pakistan X 2 in 50 deg heat against Waqar, Shoaib etc.?

Aussie, your post above this one is a perfect example of what I am referring to. For example "Try reading every page of the discussion before you come in here & start talking to yourself." and "I refuse to repeat myself, since you people have eyes & are supposed to be able to read & comprehend well."

If you want to discuss moderation, email moderators@cricketweb.net. Any further posts on this matter will be deleted.

Yes i said he was a FTB between that period. But the corrected his faults of that period with runs @ Oval 05, SA 05/06, IND 07/08 (when the India attack had come off a a good year bowling in SA & ENG), thus retired no longer a FTB.

Which is why i always pick him in my AUS ATXI, since i he showed that key adaptability, that alot of other FTBs in the 2000s era didn't.. Which makes me feel if the post Ashes 05 Hayden would have been a very solid opener if he had to face quality pace bowling consistently. This i have said more than 5+ times in this thread already.

Not that drivel by poster AK that....But not being an ATG doesn't automatically equal being an FTB. If he still was a FTB, i would have never picked him in AUS ATXI, the same way ATS why i dont pick Sehwag in India's ATXI consistently.

I hope this is last time i have to say this. But based on the form on CW on this thread, but i'm not holding my breath.

Oh also on his hundred in that 2002 test vs PAK in Sharjah. That innings doesn't not fit the criteria of runs againts a good attack on a helpul pitch. Akthar was the only good bowler in that attack & it common cricket knowledge again that Waqar was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy past his test peak in 2002, everyone know his peak was 1990-1994, really that is not a debate. This is an old argument, but explain to me how in 50 degree heat where the batsmen (Hayden) although he scored a good hundred, was struggling for breath. How fast-bowlers was has run up & down would be able to bowl @ full potential. If you actually watched that series & compare how Akhtar was steaming in the previous test @ Colombo when he ran through AUS with that famous spell, he was clearly not bowling with the same steam in Sharjah given the heat.

When Akhtar got Hayden in AUS 2004/05 in some bowler helpul pitches with the ball seaming a bit here or there. He totally exposed Hayden's then weakness againts inswingers. Which pretty much proves my point.

Yes sir i'll send an email. Since i'm a bit confused with the standards of moderation here ATM.

LOL if he scored runs in helpful conditions,as you admit he has, then he is NOT a FTB.

Also to illustrate how asinine this "out of form/past his peak" argument is,I'll just use a point you made elsewhere. You say RTP has improved against spin. Now I agree with that-but using your line of argument I could say AK absent,Bhajji past his peak etc.Get it?

You can make any knock look bad using that argument. Now you have admitted Hayden wasn't an FTB...so I guess thats the end of the thread.

Aussie mate, chill out dude! I love your posts, and mostly agree with all you say. Dont let people get to you!

To back up a point you made earlier, its true thast SA and Aus were both playing for the number one spot in 2001, and SA even got to number one for a week or two, the system was in its infancy and even tough Aus beat SA 5-1 in the tests for some reason SA managed to sneak to number one then drop to number 3 or something all in the space of a month.

Aussie - I've deleted your post. Contribute constructively to threads or any posts that don't will be deleted in their entirety. FourorSix has already explained herself more than should have been necessary as to what is required. And we've already, shortly before your last ban, been down the route of you demanding other posters respond to your pop quizzes - it's rubbish and will be deleted wherever it's repeated.

Aussie: I will just try one bit of advice to you as a fellow forum member. Don't keep acting as if the other guys' opinions don't matter and that each and every idea you hold on cricket is a fact. If you only fix that, you will find almost entire CW is ready to talk to you as they do to every other forum member.
