**Official** Ireland in Bangladesh

So Bangladesh wrap up the series... Hopefully Ireland can grab a consolation win and at least get to 200.

Fine Century from Tamim 129, I'd think 293 is too much for Ireland, Hopefully Mashrafe can get his 100th ODI wicket but Ireland will definitely have a go with bat during the powerplays.

Okay, hands up those who gave Ireland any kind of chance? Bangladesh may have had home advantage, but these three wins have been pretty crushing.

Tamim showing a lot of potential as well, on the back of the NZ tour.

Well tbh Bangladesh were pretty dominant against Scotland and Kenya when they hosted them for ODI series in 2006 and 2007. They scored more than 300 in one ODI against an admittedly rusty Kenya side and Scotland never looked like they were even in the game in both ODI's they played.

Having said all that considering the gulf in revenue, and consequently infrastruture between the Assoicates and the Test teams how do the ICC expect teams like Ireland, Scotland, Kenya and the like to keep up leave alone catch up with test nations?

In reality though the infrastruture in some Test nations Sri Lanka for example wouldn't be that far ahead of Ireland, Kenya and Scotland. I dare say it would similar for West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Financial we don't get much more then associates either, most of money is made by the countries themselves. Obsiously playing Test Cricket and more ODIs helps raise more money.

Really the big difference is the identification of talent through the school systems in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and the development of that talent at earlier ages compared the other assoicates. Nepal for example have a similar identification process, but they no infrastruture what so ever to develop that talent.

At the end of day Ireland are seemlingly still too reilent on counties to develop their talented players to another level and when this fails they just seem to look at overseas players in their domestic leagues to feel the gaps. IMO they just don't seem to be going enough to develop their own talent.

Kenya is different sitiuation. But seemlingly they had a golden generation of players from 96 and now are struggling to feel the gaps. Player exdous hasn't helped and the lack of semi professional (or atleast a well run amatuer league) hasn't helped.

But the big thing is better identification and development of that talent at a younger age. Sri Lanka still use Test and ODIs to finish off players, so a lack of decent domestic comp or infrastruture can be worked around.

Dont Test nations get vastly more from ICC in handouts than Associates? I dont have the numbers off hand but its something like 20 times the amount.

Figures according to this article on what Kenya gets from the ICC

From the World Cricket League
Both Kenya and Scotland, who meet on Wednesday, are set to receive US$250,000 from the ICC as their reward for finishing in the top two of the round-robin stage, as well as a place in September's inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.
And the steady income

Since then, they have had to manage on their annual ICC Associate grant of $70,000 and a high-performance grant, earned by a top-six finish in the 2005 ICC Trophy, of $125,000.
Not exactly rolling in it:unsure:
