Yea we need a Afgh/Zim thread.

Afgh disappointing in the first ODI, butt seem to have regrouped rather well. I reckon Zim can chase this tho.

Wow!

PEWS - Zimbos paying $1.80. thoughts?
I've taken $1.93 at the innings break PEWS assuming you'd have said its value.

Edit: Now hedging out, batting too slow for my liking.

Sorry I wasn't online. This one was tricky. Zimbabwe's ODI batting lineup is actually really well set up to chase moderate to good scores (basically anything below 290) even against proper attacks, but so few of them are playing today. They picked five specialist bowlers and Mutombodzi who they batted at four. I don't think they really took it all that seriously from a selection point of view. Hedging out just now a very good call IMO because once they get to five down it'll be dire stuff.

And they've lost another couple of wickets since I started typing this out, so yeah, good call.

Was starting to think someone had fudged the scorecards where Jongwe hit domestic hundreds, so bad his batting had looked in internationals. One of them was at #11 or something I think

Odd team selection from Zim. With so many allrounders at their disposal, surely they should be looking to stack the batting?

Yeah I don't think they were really selecting the team to win; probably just wanted to give Chisoro and Jongwe a bit of a batting opportunity in this series. I don't know why Williams didn't play - either rested or injured I'm sure - but even without him I'm sure Hasakadza or Waller or Chari would have played instead of one of the bowlers if this was some sort of a must-win game in their eyes. They picked a similarly weird balance in the first ODI as well.

Zimbabwe were bound to lose while trying to play a reasonable attack. They only win when they're doing something that makes no sense like Mire at 8 or Matsikenyeri at 9

Afghanistan in Zimbabwe series 2015

5 ODIs, 2 t20s.

Series level at 1-1 now.

Dawlat Zadran is still a very skillful bowler, judging by the cricinfo commentary. Also interesting to see that Afghanistan debuted a 17yo legspinner, Rashid Khan, who returned the very impressive figures of 1-30.

Disappointing to see that Usman Ghani is not there. Thought he had some potential. They've picked another young batsmen though - Hashmatullah Shahidi, who's come through the age group teams.

EDIT: Mods please move this to the other thread.

Chur.

Interesting scheduling as well. Is the Zim 'A' side significantly weaker than the ODI side?
