This might be good for India in some ways. India need to see how their bowlers utilize these conditions and respond in defense of a small target.

Rohit hasn't gotten a Test yet! His List A record is moderate, he is not a player in this format. He is a proper player.

His ODI record is probably in line with his abilities at this moment.

Never underestimate the psychological pressure of chasing a small-to-middlish total. There's something about a 170-230 score that sometimes leaves batsmen wobbling at the crease like a newborn foal .

this inngs would be a good one for our batsmen also now they wont go to the first inngs thinking that the NZ bowlers will be easy push overs..evne thought most the batsmen will be new compared to this line up

'But this is Rohit's mistake, his inability to rotate strike is frustrating others.':p
You know what is frustrating for me is how dumb can people get. But then one also gets some of the best laughs out of them. Its just that the number of people you can share those laughs with is going down fast !

Sehwag scored his 57 in 27 balls, Rohit his 43 in 74 at 58.1 per 100 balls. The other 5 Indian batsmen (in the top seven) scored 33 runs between them in 84 deliveries at 39.3 per 100 balls !! Leaving the tail enders to score another 15 at a slightly better 44.1 ! And we are all out in 36.3 overs! Really !

Rohit's run rate is miserable. He is unfit for one day cricket. Throw him out. Sure. But today if the others had batted, even at his pathetic run rate, calculate how much India would have scored in the allotted overs (even assuming no acceleration would have been possible if wickets were in hand towards the end.

Need a calculator. No. Just rhetoric will do I suppose.

And its not as if one(or two) of those others had a bad day and brought down the run rate. Everyone of them struggled to get the ball away for runs. Yuvraj has the best run rate of that lot at 45.8 ! Rohit hit a four and a six - the five of them between them scored two fours from 10 more deliveries !

This has nothing to do with Rohit not taking singles. It has to do with the inability of our new range of super stars to play in bowler friendly conditions and when unable to do so, to trust the god old hoick. After all if it connects you may still be a hero in this crazy world and if it doesn't you dont get blamed for "taking up too many balls" !!

I have seen comments about Rohit's batting. What can one say. Yes he is not in his best nick but he is clearly India's finest young batsman to come in the last 3-4 years. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his game. He has good technique, plays all the strokes and is not a defensive batsman people would like to call him now that he is down. He is a proper batsman and is no Sehwag or Yuvraj as far as big hitting is concerned but he is not a stonewaller. Anyone who has actually watched him play instead of just saying what the TV news readers are saying would know that.

As of today, he is the man to fill the massive boots of Tendulkar when he leaves. I hope there will be competition for that, but there isn't from anyone in this squad. Today, in an ODI, maybe not his best format, he just showed why? And we wish to castigate him for that.

Well we deserve our Uthappa's in that case. Lets have half a dozen of them boys.
