I indeed didn't know the tour was on, I usually check at periodic intervals and have simply forgotten of late.

Unsure whether I want to continue anyway as my heart isn't really in it. Anyway, reading back through the thread.

EDIT: Quickly browsed through, well played people. :)

If it is no problem to anyone I think I'd like to re-activate myself. :)

He was injured for the ODIs so if he's fit now and knows what's good for him he'll get himself on a plane here ASAP.

He's fit, but in the name of realism I think he should be unavailable until after the first Test, given that theoretically he would not arrive until the morning of day one.

Already named the lineup TBH and wasn't gonna change it. Was more for the 4D game to see if he should replace whoever does badly if anyone does.

Selectors back Mamesh and Borcich for first Test

Thamba Mamesh returns for Cricket Web XI in the first Test against India. The opening batsman was discarded from the team after the second Test in England in Season XII, following a string of bad scores at the top of the innings. But in light of the suspension of Shan Jasotharan, Mamesh finds his way back into the team.

Pete Young is expected to return to number three, where he scored heavily on his recall two years ago. Also returning to the team is fast bowler Nick Borcich. The Cricket Web Black star will again try to transfer his domestic bullying to the international stage, replacing Dave Richards as the selectors look to bolster the pace attack for the PDV Dome.

"Nick (Borcich) has been fantastic for Black for some seasons now, and he deserves his chance," said CWBCC co-chairman Liam Camps Sr. "Richards did a great job for us against New Zealand (but) the PDV Dome is a fast bowlers' pitch and we'll look to exploit that."

Camps noted that Richards is not out of the frame for the remainder of the series, emphasizing that he will be the 12th man for the match. He also noted that fast bowler Kyle Wright and opener Dan Smith will remain with the team through the course of the Test.

"We're looking to build a strong core," said Camps. "We think that these are the best players in the country right now, so we want to keep them together, training together and building team spirit."

Cricket Web XI 1st Test squad:
NS Pickup (c), H Mork (wk), PE Young, T Mamesh, TJ Demeza, NA Borcich, AAA Collins, RJ Dauth, MW Wilson, AP Cloete, CR Butler. 12th Man: DP Richards

Indians struggle as Mamesh marks sensational return
Day 1 - Cricket Web XI v India at PDV Dome

India were made to toil hard on the opening day of their Test series against Cricket Web XI, as the home side lost only one wicket for 323 runs. Thamba Mamesh made an emphatic return to the Test team with a magnificent 168, and dominated an opening partnership of 241 in a thoroughly one-sided affair.

On the quick PDV Dome pitch, India chose to bowl first under a cloudless sky. The ploy backfired spectacularly, as India created chances but failed to take any of them in the morning session. Before lunch Mork was missed on 0, 17 and 30 while Mamesh should have been caught-and-bowled shortly after he had passed fifty. But as the fielders continued to struggle, the CW batsmen grew in confidence. Mamesh cashed in on anything short and stamped his authority with a series of fierce pull shots. And with a firm punch off the back foot he raised his hundred with a 6th boundary.

At tea the Indians had used six bowlers and soon into the final session, Mork executed a classy on-drive to bring up his ton. He added 6 more runs to his score and then missed a quicker ball from Kumble, out for 108. Pete Young took his place at the crease, joining his CW Blue opening partner, and the chemistry between the two was immediately apparent. Kumble's efforts could not lift his team and instead, and outside of an early burst from Zaheer Khan with the second new ball, there was little that threatened until stumps.

Webheads extend domination
Day 2 - Cricket Web XI v India at PDV Dome

The struggle continued for India and Cricket Web XI strengthened their hold on the first Test with more thrilling strokeplay. The left-arm pairing of Zaheer Khan and RP Singh started impressively, striking up two close shouts for lbw. But both appeals were turned down, and after such early drama it was back to business for the home team.

Young was the first to his milestone, clipping Khan to the legside for a single and his fifty. And less than 6 overs later Mamesh celebrated the first double hundred of his Test career. Kumble pushed the field back and tried to contain the damage, so the batsmen were content with playing for singles. The partnership passed 200 and expired a run later, when Mamesh missed a full delivery from Khan. It was the first sign of reverse swing and sent the opener on his way for 223. The spotlight shifted to Young and his chase of a century. And it arrived with the shot of the day - a beautiful straight drive to the boundary.

Cricket Web XI motored along to 557-2 at tea, only briefly slipping when Cloete was dropped at mid-on on 48. The star batsman kept the stunningly perfect top order record by becoming the fourth consecutive batsman to raise a half-century. And like the three before him he too reached triple figures. The focus then shifted to Neil Pickup in the dressing room and when he would call the innings to a close. He waited long enough to let Young to chase a second double century of the innings, but the CW Blue batsman lazily chipped a Kumble full toss to short cover, caught for 189. The declaration was immediate - 662-3 declared - and India were left with 5 overs to negotiate.

Travis Demeza shared the new ball with Nick Borcich and neither managed to find a consistent line before Virender Sehwag kicked into gear. By the day's end the tourists had reached 40-0.

India 1st innings 40-0 (5 overs)

India trail by 622 runs on first innings, with 10 wickets in hand.

Jesus that the most hair I have seen on Thamba's head in a couple years. Need the bowlers to back up the batsmen here, but showing signs of being a very flat pitch.

Dravid stands firm as Webheads fight for advantage
Day 3 - Cricket Web XI v India at PDV Dome

Rahul Dravid struck up a brilliant rearguard to deny Cricket Web XI the spoils on a crucial third day. The former captain scored 137 not out as both teams wrestled for control of the match. Virender Sehwag (37) was dropped at slip by Mamesh early on, but CW XI did not have to wait long for the first wicket. In the third over of the day Nick Borcich searched the edge of the opener's bat and he was caught handily by Dauth in the gully.

The breakthrough spurred Borcich on into a fantastic spell of fast bowling. He beat Dravid's defensive prod twice before he had Jaffer dropped in the slips on 23. But the miss could hardly prove less costly. Just 2 balls later Borcich ripped the ball back at Jaffer off the seam, trapping him lbw for the same score. At 70-2 CW XI were back on top, leading by 592 runs. But in Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid there was the ideal pairing for a revival. They moved serenely into the second session and both passed 50. Neil Pickup was progressively frustrated, but continued to plug away with his legbreaks. And from nowhere he picked up Tendulkar for 75. Attempting to cut a quicker ball, Tendulkar edged low to Mamesh at slip and the batting hero took a fine catch to complete the dismissal.

Enter VVS Laxman, and exit the ball, sailing out the ground over midwicket for six. Pickup was given a replacement ball, but dropped short again and was hammered to midwicket for four more. But the early promise of Laxman was false, lbw to Demeza for 22. At tea India had slipped behind, trailing by 406 with 6 wickets in hand. The final session was another exercise in the fightback. Sourav Ganguly ******ed Dravid to a century - the fourth of the game - and eased into stride with some fine shots through the covers. But even such a strength turned weakness, when an uppish drive was dropped by Young at cover point. It was the last bit of drama of the day, and India closed on 350-4, still 113 short of the follow-on target.

Pickup and Collins shift the balance
Day 4 - Cricket Web XI v India at PDV Dome

A captain's peformance from Neil Pickup forced India to follow on, and Cricket Web XI dominated the fourth day at the Dome. The legspinner boasted an understanding of the batsman-friendly conditions and plugged away defensively until the Indian batsmen played into his hands. He started with the wicket of Dravid before the batsman had added to his overnight total, and went on to complete a 5-wicket haul.

Only Sourav Ganguly stood up the challenge, though he only added 28 to his overnight score before he fatally padded up on 67. The threat of MS Dhoni was wiped out by a Borcich bouncer and a miscued hook shot, so Irfan Pathan (dropped on 5) was the lone hope of the tourists to avoid a crucial follow-on. The allrounder started well after lunch with a booming cover drive for four, but only had 24 when he cut Demeza into the lap of gully. India still managed to close in the on the target with a 21-run stand for the 9th wicket, then Pickup dealt for his opposite number for 24. The next ball he used the perfect googly to trap Zaheer Khan in front of his stumps, and India followed on while trailing by 203.

For the second time in the match India's openers had to face a mini-session of bowling, and again they survived with few worries. Jaffer and Sehwag batted 12 overs unbroken until tea. In the last session they extended their partnership to 65 with Sehwag dropped on 46, and looking ominous. And even as Sehwag was caught at midwicket for 51, Dravid picked up from his first innings heroics and he and Jaffer put on 73 for the second wicket.

To that point Adam Collins had bowled 27 wicketless overs for 92 runs. He picked his moment expertly and went around the wicket to peg back Dravid, lbw for 27. Collins continued around the wicket and procured a leading edge by Jaffer (55), then he snapped up a low catch to his right. VVS Laxman took guard with history on his side, but could not match his past follow-on heroics and dragged his first ball back onto his middle stump. India had slumped to 139-4, and even with 10 balls remaining in the day, Ganguly joined Tendulkar ahead of a nightwatchman. He managed to nick the ball through the slips for a boundary, so India closed with the deficit reduced to 60.
