On another note I've said it before and I'll say it again - MacAllister is everything to this team.

Decent enough team without him but our trophy ambitions hinge on his availability. Watching us fumble around in pre-season without him is scary.
This what scares me. If macca goes to real madrid (they would bid for him next year anyway) our midfield would be disastrous

Saw United at MB on Sunday and Bruno was easily the best player I saw all day and it wasn’t close.

The biggest issue I saw was the midfield. Ugarte is slow, can’t carry the ball or pass. I didn’t realize it until then but he’s a worse version of Fred. Mainoo also isn’t fast so them together just is a bad idea. Casemiro was a ghost. Just a guy jogging about.

Heaton at 39 looks a better keeper than Bayandir. Hilarious that they are loading the front line again while looking like they will continue to ship bad goals.
It does sound like we'll get a midfielder and goalkeeper in if the price is right. I know it's a low bar, but this management is a bit better than the last one from a footballing perspective at least.

I’m waiting for the end of window to see if they stick to their guns on not doing last minute sales at lowball prices. I can’t see them wanting to have no sales despite what they say publicly.

United for Ilan Meslier. He's a 6-foot-4-inch Fabien Barthez. Don't you want a super tall Fabien Barthez?

Why do Man Utd spend over the odds for players but sell them dirt cheap , are they not aware they get robbed in the transfer market every season ? And finally it has caught up with them on the pitch ..

United are not really a selling club and are terrible at it for sure. I wouldn't say it has a significant impact on the pitch, perhaps one of several factors at best.

But they finished 15th last season despite having such an expensive starting line up , before they used to splash money on proven players , now they are spending huge sums on guys like Onana , Mount , Hojlund , Anthony ,Ugarte who aren't world class ..

Yeah, recruitment is not great and all of those guys cost too much for sure (Antony and Hojlund perhaps more so than the others). Buying the wrong players is a the bigger concern, yes.

But it's also a lot of other things like not having a strategy of how the team needs to play, so you end up with players who are suited to playing on the counter when you have a coach who wants to play possession-based football (as an example). The lack of direction and continuity contributes to the struggles some of these players have as well. There are other factors too like foolishly extending contracts that aren't strictly required and not having the best people in charge of various football-related aspects of operation. The likes of Matt Judge had zero footballing knowledge and I feel negotiated poor deals for ordinary players as a result.

Anyway, as you said, we ended up being 15th. But we are now looking to rectify some of it and the only way to go is up from here.

Birmingham-Ipswich last night was as dull as dishwater…until it all kicked off in injury time! Rest of the Championship is back today, the Orns away at newly promoted Charlton who have former Luton manager Nathan Jones who’s bought about five of his old buddies, what could possibly go wrong?

United are in a tough spot now in the market because the best players won't go there but they still pay top whack. They don't make any money selling anyone for two reasons - the aforementioned wages as well as making their players all look shite.
