Highest-rated Arc winner since Enable, apparently. Hard to fault his six-from-six record, and he won that race in great style.

It's obviously a decent crop of three-year-olds in France this year, with Blue Rose Cen and Kelina also picking up Group One wins against older horses on the same card.

No doubting the quality of the Arc, I think it was a strong renewal. But if I'm being honest, some of the undercard have no right to call themselves Group 1's. Blue Rose Cen is a solid filly, but that was not a Group 1 quality field. I reckon O Brien would have at least 5 fillies of a higher rating than the 2nd there. The best 3 year old filly in Europe is Tahiyra and I doubt Blue Rose would get close to her.

Sounds like Ace Impact may either head to the Japan Cup or retirement. I find it bizarre that I was watching Frankel 11 years ago and now we already have a star grandson of his (and his sire Cracksman ran as a 4 year old too) probably heading to stud with a huge price tag.

Jeez, that was an incredible performance by Gold Trip in the Turnbull.

Meanwhile, Legarto was very, very good at Matamata earlier today and looks like she's on target for the Golden Eagle.

For those that weren't sure - as the Turnbull Stakes is a Set Weights Plus Penalties race, the winner (Gold Trip) can not be given a weight penalty for the Caulfield Cup or Melbourne Cup.

New rule in regards to Caulfield Cup winners carrying 56kg or more. New rule introduced either last year or year before (2021). Basically if a horse carrying 56kg or more wins the Caulfield Cup, then they won't recieve a weight penalty for the Melbourne Cup.

For your information.

Cheers.

Sorry I'll say it again as I misread it.

If a Caulfield Cup winner has a Melbourne Cup Weight of 56kg or more than they won't recieve a weight penalty for the Melbourne Cup.

Disappointing, but hardly surprising to see that the Arc winner is off to stud. Would have liked to see him have more than six career starts and be tested overseas, but not to be.

Meanwhile, tomorrow is shaping up to be an incredible day in Sydney and Melbourne (with some decent races in NZ too to play a supporting role). Can't wait. Slightly miffed that Hastings is expecting a 24-degree day - a fair bit higher than the 8 when I was there for the middle day of the carnival.

Slightly odd given he never even ran as a 2 year old. That his trainer bought him for just 75k makes him quite the bargain. But as a descendent of Frankel and Galileo, he's worth a bomb at Stud. I guess another year of winning races probably adds little to his value, but sadly shows what the owners are in it for.

Also, Land Legend trained by James Ferguson (based at Newmarket) won the St Leger and broke the track record at Randwick todat. Land Leger has a Timeform rating of 102...by world standards in Timeform's eyes thats an "average Listed winner"

Australian racing at 1600m+ is not strong in terms of depth. It's there for all to see but of course the great defenders of Australian racing will be out in force and in denial.

Worth having a look at City Of Troy's Dewhurst Stakes win - if O' Brien think he's the best 2 year old he's ever trained he's probably quite good. He could be an absolute monster if he gets the ground he ideally wants (and this wasn't it). Already just Evens for next year's Guineas, could be the best since Frankel. And it's outlining what a potential star at Stud Justify is turning out to be, especially when crossed with Galileo mares.
