It's not amazing in terms of taking wickets; most will look to be containment bowlers.

Funnily enough Shakib is the 2nd most successful spinner in NZ in the last 10 years.
Jeez Nathan McCullum must have one of the worst wickets/per/match ratio of any specialist bowler I can recall in recent times, 29 games for 12 wickets, around 1 wicket every 2.5 games. Tbf to him, his ER was excellent though.

Yeah. His NZ record was terrible, balanced by an ok Asian record.

If we didn't get early wickets with the seamers we were doomed. Even if we did get early wickets he would often serve the seamers up 2 set batsman at the start of the power play.

Nethula should be a bit miffed that the badness of Nathan in NZ conditions never got much attention.

On Ronchi.

By the end of this years domestic white ball stuff, I'd assume one out of the 3 of Cleaver, Seiffert, Blundell will have made a case.

At the moment I reckon they be plucking it to chose out of them.

So, I don't mind it.

If NZC did their ****ing jobs and actually organised A series then we might ****ing know already. And would be in a position to introduce a new player WHEN they wanted.

Always been a fan of this Nethula fella, think he's underrated & I'm not sure Sodhi is much better across all the forms, yet he's had several opportunities.

I remember someone in the commentary (may have been Doull) saying that his attitude was poor when he was in the squad 4 or so years ago and hasn't seen the national side since.

Well if that is true, that'd explain it. Bowls well, especially with the white ball.

So we have taken the whole 22 men squad to NZ. No complains from my side as it's better for us as more players get exposed to these conditions

I think I said that too. He certainly enjoyed the West Indies off the field, when he could've knuckled down and played at least a Test. He doesn't want it enough to change who he is.

He spent all year touring with the side and should have played a test there somewhere in 2012 with all the turning pitches we played on if his attitude was right.Todd Astle randomly overtaking him in Sri Lanka looks to have been the writing on the wall for him looking back on it.

Nethula is the stand out exponent of his art currently in NZ Domestic cricket. When there is leadership bridges can be built. Historical perception should not intrude upon extracting the best out of NZ's modest talent pool.

Mustafiz unlikely for NZ ODIs

Pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman is uncertain for the forthcoming one-day international series against New Zealand, said chief selector Minhajul Abedin on Monday.

Mustafiz, who has been a part of Bangladesh squad in New Zealand, is currently working to regain full fitness after he had undergone a shoulder surgery in August for sustaining an injury while playing for Sussex.

According to Minhajul, who is constantly in touch with the team management, Mustafiz’s progress at present does not suggest that he can be available in the ODI series.

Selectors will sit on Tuesday to form the ODI squad for the series against New Zealand and chances are high that the left-arm pace bowler may miss the series as it will be completed in a very short time from December 26-31.
‘I don’t think he will be available for the ODI’s initially as his fitness level is not up to the mark yet,’ Minhajul told New Age on Monday.

‘As the ODI series will be completed in very short time we are not sure whether he will at all be available for the ODI’s but chances are very slim,’ he said.

‘We can have a clearer picture tomorrow as we will have all the medical updates.

‘If it seems that he is not available in ODI’s but he can start his campaign from Twenty20 series.’

Mustafiz did not feature in the two practice matches in Australia and is unlikely to take part in the practice game against New Zealand XI on December 22.

At least Logan Van Beek isn't on the list... Pretty much a who's who of Shield players not in the T20 sides.

That's a fair point. He's nigh on the best domestic T20 spinner, unless Santner edges him.

Incidentally, I don't know if this has been discussed, but Todd Astle...he must be an awful tourist as well (I say this tongue in cheek). Debuts, bowls okay, scores 30-odd, dropped. Back in for an ODI series in Australia, is the only (?) squad member who doesn't play, dropped. Plays a second Test, bowls four overs, dropped and I really don't envisage he'll play another Test.
