*Official* Australia vs West Indies - Frank Worrell Trophy 2022

Yeah, he's been struggling with the bat for a while now. 3 scores over 50 since that double against England in 2019. I'd have JDS batting at 6.

I'd like to say he's also a bit undercooked in this format, he hasn't played much fc cricket this past while and the Windies do struggle with the kookaburra.
Agree completely, Tony H is on the money. He has not been the same since he upped his T20 workload after losing the captaincy.

Off topic sorta, but is Steve Smith the fastest to equal the Don's 29 hundreds?
Nah but if he gets a 100 in one of his next 2 innings he will be the fastest to 30

Unless he really gets bogged down again he'll probably be the quickest to most of the rest too (he's competing with Tendulkar & Ponting)

No, it was Bradman
I literally said the fastest to reach the Don's mark of 29 100s. Guess I should have stated that obviously i know that the Don was the fastest to 29. My bad. So who was the fastest to 29 100s after the Don??

I take massive issue with that. Have you watched them play with the dukes ball by any chance? Our attack is as good as any with the dukes ball. I concede that we are shocking with the kookaburra though.
shocking with kooka, is what i meant.
only windies 90s and 80s good with kooka.

re Smith too good. i admit it now. will retire as the best batsman since bradman, in terms of average and enough innings played. Labu still early days, but heading the same way.

Of course, Sachin probably the more complete batsman if you look at the complete opposition he faced(Top PAK, Wi, AUS/ENG, SL and SAF attacks in terms of pace , swing and spin bowlers ), and the style of wickets in those eras had a lot less flat tracks. There is no one equivalent for example, to wasim akram, waqar, mcgrath or ambrose, or allan donald, Warne, etc - That Smith and co are facing now. He's mostly facing rubbish - this WI attack for example, is easily the worst its ever fielded. The only real test will be the SAFfers coming soon, who have a very complete bowling attack.

Rubbish. Smith faced swing from NZ, Eng and RSA. And faced excellent spin from Ashwin/Jadeja and conquered them in india. Only thing Smith needs to to now is maintain his excellence over a little longer period. The RSA Smith made runs against in 2014 was as good as any Sachin faced: Philander, Steyn, Morkel in RSA.

People here act like:

A. Sachin faced great bowling day in and day out. False. He played Ambrose in all of one series. The majority of the WI attacks he too faced were garbage. He also made tons vs weak NZ, Ban, Zim, and SL pre Murali emergence.
B. He did well vs great attacks. Again False. He failed vs Donald, Wasim and Waqar and was middling vs McGrath. He made runs vs Australia only when McGrath was missing. Ex series in India in 1998 and in Australia in 2003.

This WI is not the worst I've seen. It's mediocre outside the WI but as good as any at home. And fwiw, Smith has faced WI for all of 6 out of 88 tests. Big deal. Give the man his due and stop with the excuses.

Praise Smith without demeaning Sachin.

I'm not demeaning Sachin. I'm pretty much taking a leaf out of everyone to tries to diminish Smith's accomplishments. Like saying Smith never got tested by spin or by swing attacks. And trying to make it seem like WI made hey against only weaker attacks like the WI while Sachin conquered the greats. That's objectively a false narrative.

Hearing Seales knee injury has flared up again like it did before the first test. We could be looking at an attack of Anderson Phillip, Marquino Mindley, Alzarri Joseph, Jason Holder and Roston Chase. God help us.

I think Mayers is a big miss, his bowling with a pink ball under lights would have been challenging to say the least.

I'm really curious to know how Roston Chase made it back into the WI team.

Haynes added: “Roston Chase has returned to the squad as an allrounder and we believe his experience and skill set will be beneficial and Shamarh Brooks has also returned to bolster the middle-order batting.”

"The situation regarding Roston Chase and Motie is that we as a panel decided that we would go for an offspinner, and we decided that Chase was the best person to do the job."

Part-time comedian is Haynes.

Tbf, with the group of players we have there's none who would've made a difference to our fortunes down under. I just thought that they should've at least given a specialist spinner a go. That spinner would've probably gotten eaten alive regardless though.....
