Also, oliver davies with a run a ball ton against a basically full strength windies bowling attack is impressive, especially given that they've bowled basically no overs from the part timers. Hopefully he gets some shield game time for NSW this season, he's got a FAR higher ceiling then spuds like gilkes.

I'd very much consider Chase part timer standard. WI must be really rusty considering Davies is (or at least was) a terrible player of fast bowling.
That said if the pitch at Phillip Oval is anything like normal it's probably not bouncing much over stump height anyway.

On a more serious not, was just excited that Davies managed to produce a run-a-ball ton batting 3 facing a decent quantity of overs from a test level 3 man pace attack. Would like to see if they tested him with the short ball at all, though.

I think he found his form on srilankan tour, if not for run out in the first test he would have scored the century.

Good Lord, every Aussie tour is the same. Go to bed with the team in decent shape, wake up and some grade cricket hack has scored a run a ball century against us

Why would you want an off-spinner rather than a left-armer I don't get it

Ever since the 80's there is an obsession with off spinners in Australia, with very little evidence to back it up. Literally every set of selectors go down this route when faced with a tour of Australia. As if a crap off spinner is going to be a better option than a promising left arm spinner?
