Maybe they think owen could be a stoinis replacement long term? We already have a ton of openers and there's not many middle order bat's coming through the system. I see nothing wrong with giving Owen a go down the order. He's a better player of spin than short.

Your best players should be at the top in T20s. JFM wouldn't even be the best player in his grade side. If he has to play for Australia (which is absurd in and of itself) can't we just bat him at 9 and be a specialist fielder

Plays (occasionally) for West Torrens these days, and he's not a better cricketer than Spencer Johnson, Jordan Buckingham, Harry Nielsen, Daniel Drew or Harry Manenti

Him and Kelvin Smith would be a close run thing though

Here come the Windies boshing it about in hit & giggle cricket. Yay. Big contracts in the 'Whack It!' Galapagos Islands T20 Superdooper League await.

JFM making Konstas look good. I don't get why the selectors didn't just keep Konstas for the T20's rather than JFM. He had a fairly decent Big Bash for his limited appearances and his Aus A ton was basically an ODI innings. He'd be much more suited to limited overs at the moment rather than Tests.

They started training JFM to be a keeping option at some point because he's one of the few guys who don't bowl and I guess he was a slightly preferred option to bring in here rather than add to add to Carey's workload or take Philippe away from Aus A (bearing in mind that Inglis keeps having back issues). Still doesn't explain why they put him in the XI.
