Latham seems to have mental blocks against the best teams, but also against at certain grounds. He averages 13.22 in 5 tests at Bay Oval; 2 of these tests were against Bangladesh and South Africa D.

Yeah absolutely. You sweat on those as an opening bat. It's exactly what you're waiting for, you got the ball seaming around and turning and you're hanging out for the loose delivery to put away. If you leave them you're just letting the pressure build on you. It was just lazy execution
It was wide enough to put away with a cut shot but Latham underestimated the bounce that Lyon gets which is what got the edge.

Williamson nearly got out the same way too trying to hit that ball outside leg with the bounce beating his bat..

It's not just the turn that Lyon gets, it's the bounce he gets as well which makes him a dangerous bowler to face.

Williamson really needs a new plan to Lyon bouncily targeting his hip and leg stump with the two leg side fielders. Can he leave more? Struggles to even get his hands out of the way though.

Occasionally he gets to hit a short one for four, of course.

Why do hacks love gifting wickets to Nathan Lyon. He's going to end up with 700 wickets ffs
Crazy to think that he could end up with as many test wickets as Shane Warne by the end of his test career.

Warne was an all time great test spinner, Lyon is a good test spinner but he isn't a great test spinner let alone an all time great test spinner like Warne.

Australia really haven't gotten it right so far. Fortunately there's a lot in the wicket.

it was coming, just continually not in control against that line

Yeah that's a really disappointing way to get for KW. Was very obviously the plan, he's got out like that before to Lyon and just played right into it

Yeah he hasn't bowled well but Lyon would want to dig this pitch up and take it everywhere he plays, it's basically perfectly suited to his strengths

I dunno KW, either let that hit you (going well over the stumps) or set up with a more open stance so there are fewer moving parts to that stock ball?
