Weird patch after the two wickets. Thought NZ were in big trouble with two batters on 0(0) and England primed to take another wicket. Instead England's bowlers were loose and Nicholls and Conway were untroubled in putting together 24 off only 29 balls.

Potts is the sort of bowler who should test Nicholls, he tends to be vulnerable against bowlers who go fast and fast and full.

Dashed bad luck old bean. Not to worry, showing some pluck and ticker.

Nicholls gets dropped a lot doesn’t he?

Crawley looked very classy and composed diving across second slip to drop that catch. Born test player.

Haha... had to happen. Nicholls comes in and even the best catching form won't help. It has to go down. Unbelievable stuff. Nicholls batting blessed by cats lives every time.

Nicholls gets dropped more times than he gets beaten usually. How does that happen every time? Maybe his bat angles are so skewed when he edges it doesn't give enough hint of an edge.

Broad’s showing the length to bowl on this pitch, been troubling Nicholls after dragging his length back a bit. NZ should take note.
