I am assuming you are asking about the person about whom it is being said.

Q6. Did he score over 3,000 Test runs ?..... NO

Q7. Could he bowl, i.e. over 50 Test wickets ?........No he did not have 50 test wickets

It sounds like the sort of thing that might have been said of Brian Close.

If so - was the person who said it a team mate or opponent?

Woohoo!

I don't actually have a question right now - will come up with something. But if anyone is aching to ask one themselves then they're welcome to go right ahead. :)

Duff never batted at number 11. He once batted at number 10 and scored 104 which was the top score. The number 11 was Big Ship Armstrong and the entire batting was turned upside down with Clem Hill, Trumper and Noble being the three 'tail enders above Duff.

In August 1896, Australia lost the first 9 wickets for just 25 runs in their second innings at the Kensington Oval. Top scorer till that stage was Syd Gregory with SIX !!

In walked Tom McKibbin to partner Hugh Trumble. They put on 21 runs for the tenth wicket of which the number 11 scored a gallant 16. It was more than twice the score of any other batsman in that innings :)

Notwithstanding Michaels confirmation of the Demon Bowlers batting feat, here's another question.

Which Test cricketer scored over half of his Teams runs in a completed innings, batting at the lowest position

Clarify : An opening batsman scoring half the teams runs is not very unusual, he gets about half the bowling. But the lower the order, the more difficult it becomes to achieve over half the teams total, since he gets much less of the bowling
