South Africa didn’t win the 99 WC.. So the 98 CT is their highest ever achievement and moreover South Africa didn’t loose the semi final of 99 WC because of Kallis. Kallis was the one who anchored the innings after loosing 4 wickets.

Crazier than Kallis in 1999 was how late SA held back Klusener. He was in such insane form for a few years but he was so good at finishing they were too afraid to ruin a good thing by putting him further up the order.

Kohli was super slow in 3-4 matches.
Ok ish in 2-3 matches.
No outstanding innings in entire WC.
Won POMs in easy matches. One against Bangladesh and other against SA, where Kohli's SR was 25 points less than Rest of the team.

Kohli's contributions were not essential to win, even in those two matches he won POM, India would have won anyway, probably with bigger margin.

Oh good. My SR doesn’t matter thought process is spreading to limited overs. I like it (though I don’t like limited overs)

He was good against Australia, Rahul was better and Won POM.

SF match, without Kohli India could have scored more than 400 easily. ( he scored less than 30% of team runs at just over 100 SR, Rest of the team Scored at 145 SR.. Difference was a whopping 40 points.)
He did better in the previous match against NZ though.

Overall a decent WC performance.( just like Dravid of 99 ) nothing spectacular even for a great ODI batsman, let alone Sachin/Viv/AB Challenger.

Kallis should have been a little bit fast instead of 53(92) a 53(86) would be perfect, but that is the least of the reasons for that loss. In fact hadn’t Kallis - Rhodes partnership existed South Africa loose the match by 50+ odd runs. Kallis was preventing further collapse by allowing Rhodes to score runs. You can’t compensate that loss with 98 Knockout Trophy win.

And since we are comparing Kallis as a Cricketer Kallis was the most economical in that match. Kallis in 10 overs conceded just 27 runs and took the wicket of Gilchrist.
