If the incident really mattered Ali would have reported it some time in the last three years, and named the player who said it.

As it stands he’s made an unsubstantiated allegation which besmirches a whole team/nation. Which is kind of ironic, when you think about it...

Er, I don't think you're best place to start dictating how important the issue is to him tbh. He could have any number of reasons for not mentioning it until now.

Surely being called "Osama" would matter to any Muslim? It doesn't matter whether it caused him to reveal it there and then, if his accusation is correct, it deserves to be in the public domain along with punishment regardless of whether sooner or later.

In relation to your second sentence, the allegation is the purpose of the investigation. It should be treated as an allegation until then rather than the objective truth.
