Lets rate some of the top contemporary spinners

What can the umpires do when the ICC have cleared Murali???

Batters can say a word otherwise they will face a ban, they just have to face Murali quitely.

Murali is a chucker, a lot of international cricketers do consider his action as illegal.Gilli expressed his opinion about Murali and got into trouble, but i do believe that most of Aussie cricketers share
Gilli's views.

If Stuart MacGill was born in S. Africa, N.Z., England... or just about anywhere where Warne wasn't.... he'd be up in the top five no problems.

... and that's all I have to say about that. :P
Very good point.

Since when did aussie cricketers view become the cricket bible ?

yeah the same bunch who have two players who got money first then went on to accuse others as corrupt...yeah riiiight

the same bunch who being paragons of virtue accused ganguly of unsportsmanship

oooh the ones named ugly aussies (quite unfairly :D) for practising the noble art of sledging.

since gilli's view is paraded here how abt him sayin tht he was wrong later ?

yeah and the same aussie team which had slats who cried a river for his oh so fair catch and now says he over reacted ....but 2 yrs ago...he thought he acted so fair a behaviour so noble that he should be knighted for it..

give it a break...

Giles doesn't spin it enough, it's his height that gets him the wickets.

i dont know abt that. But i rate him coz he seems to have sachin in knots and seems to have the knack of makin a plan work. Not many can do tht.

we really need a thumbs up smiley..hmm

The problem with the ICC and Murali 'chucker' Murilitharan is that they're just too afraid to do anything, if the ICC dont take cricket seriously, soon nobody will, it used to be the players had to cope with the rules, now they change them to suit the players

Dead thread Re-awaking award !!

This thread must surely be the longest dead thread that appears to have been woken up from its slumber after a gap of 18 months !!

I would like to create this new award on the Cricket Web !!

So the desperate posters out there can go searching for the old threads and bring them to life with a new post , just to confuse everyone else and boost post count !!

It's actually just under 2 and a half years Jason.

Still it was beaten today by a thread wishing us Happy New Year for 2002 which had no replies till someone thought it was funny to respond.

Richard isn't 'someone', he's a robotic post-boosting cyborg.

The only part I take issue with is this:

To a limited extent this is true. But anyone who saw Warne bowl between say 1993-1997 before his first major operation will tell you his reputation was well deserved. He was at the top of his game at that stage and no-one, not even the good players of spin in the English and West Indian sides could confidently attack him. Murali is at a similar stage now so, as I said, we'll see how he comes back from his first serious injury.

well.......uhm.....english and westindies DONT have good players of spin.....

imo murali is the man u r lookin for  8-)

No, I genuinely found it funny - would have preferred it to have been on NYD, though.
Of course, some don't find it funny, as demonstrated above.

certainly is quite a ludicrous claim. no england havent had the best players of spin and neither do the WI. but to say that players like lara, hooper, hick, thorpe, atherton, gatting etc were anything but good would be downright stupid.

I dont rate Kumble as much as alot of others (although i do rate him) do mainly cos a world class spinner should be capable of performing and helping the team away from home not just on big spinning tracks of home.

Hmmm....
Lara - proclaimed by many as the greatest player of spin ever.
Hooper - one of the finest players of spin the game has seen.
Adams - ask any Indian cricketer.
Sarwan - ask Murali if he can play spin.
Chanderpaul - ask any Indian cricketer.

Wow. You're so perceptive. 8-)
