Lefthanders lucky?

why do i often here people saying that Left handed batsmen are lucky? is there any truth to this?

They do have a bit of an advantage sometimes, but not really much more than that.

Agree with Engle. You find less lefties in lower levels, and that is less practice for bowlers.

As regards batsmen being used to bowling at left-handers, the left-hander can have all the novelty value he wants, if he's not good enough he won't prosper.

Its all to do with the ball being slanted across them. The natural ball from most bowlers (ie RA seam) natually goes across them.

They therefore play and miss more.
