John Wright set to take up role with the NZC

It has been rumoured today that John Wright is set to accept a senior coaching/management role at the NZ Academy & also take over the coaching duties of the NZ 'A' side.

This is a huge bonus for NZ. It would be silly not to use his experience that he gained while coaching India.

When i opened this i was hoping he was going to take over the national coaching juties, bye bye Bracewell :p.

Anyway that would be a good move by NZC if it happens, not good signs for SL 'A', as we play you guys soon.

Brilliant news for NZ cricket. Apart from his general experience New Zealand badly need specialist batting coaches at the top level so Wright should fit the bill perfectly.

John Wright is a great coach as he has shown with India and Kent and no doubt would be a better coach than John Bracewell for the Test side !!

I wonder if NZ Cricket has contemplated the possibility of JB as ODI coach only (with the World Cup in mind) and John Wright as NZ Test coach.

May be he will succeed JB after World Cup 2007.

Wright won't become NZ coach until at least after the World Cup, and that will only happen if Bracewell fails of course.

I can see him helping Bracewell quite alot though...particularly for sub-continent tours.

John Wright coaching NZ would fit like a glove, and would be a dream come true for himself and many New Zealanders.

I still wish he was coach of India to be honest and we've really improved under his impressive coaching.

NZ Cricket should flourish with his experience, expertise and coaching methods. That being said, he's not the NZ Coach yet :P

John will be a great fit in NZ cricket, He knows the system, he knows the players and besides he doesn't have to deal with morons that are sitting in BCCI. He has an excellent captain in Stephen Fleming as well.

a good sign - hopefully a start & not the whole story.............

biggest bonus so far would be having a specialist batsman in a senior coaching position.......

hopefully he can have some say in 'A' team & squad selections.............. :)
